This exactly. I'm more inclined to think it's serendipity, but either way, it kills.

Nicely put.

Buying a Sideshow figure is a leap of faith. They often fall short of the promise, but if you glimpse the potential and take the leap you can end up with a figure you don't regret owning. :lol

I've been happy with all the Sideshows I've bought since 2012, apart from their ESB/ROTJ Vader which has always been a bit problematic.

Boba Fett
Bossk
IG-88
Hoth Luke
Hoth Han (both)
Snake Plissken
Scout Trooper
R2-D2
TIE Pilot
Luke X-Wing

And I'd go all the way back to Boushh and Bib Fortuna as well.

Love the proportions, nice heft if that matters to you. Weathering is lacklustre but not a deal-breaker. In a similar vein the colours are wrong, too washed out, but it's a good looking piece nonetheless and not so wrong that it jumps out at me.

Repaint wouldn't be that hard, but I'm not bothered enough to go to that length.

Honestly it's a nice figure, just has issues and the bare head is a no-go for me.

One of the things that really bugs me about the helmet is that the mohawk isn't tall enough at the front. Sideshow have it tapering narrower and narrower towards the front, whereas once it hits the front raised sides of the helmet (the parts with the rebel insignia on either side) it should be roughly the same height at the front as it is when that part of the shell starts. It's hard to explain, but compare this side shot from the Death Star trench run to the Sideshow lid and you'll see what I mean. Since I noticed it it's been bugging the heck out of me.

I would love to see side by side shots of the helmet and the HT Luke helmet with the blast shield down.

This may be a stupid question but what was that helmet for? Why did Han have a helmet lying around where you couldn't see anything. For blowing stuff up? Or did Ben bring it with the training remote?

Well, what do you do if you're expecting a blindingly bright explosion right outside the cockpit windows, Mr. Smartypants? It's not like you can turn away or close your eyes for those couple of seconds. Oh... wait.:lol

Thanks for the detailed breakdown ZE :duff: I'm resisting the urge to use the current $25 coupon, it doesn't make much of a dent when shipping runs $23 :gah: You and Kuat do have me thinking about displaying him with the helmet on now, as before I wanted to have him hold it and switch to a hot toys head. But I will have several luke figures with a full portrait displayed so helmet on makes sense for my collection and saves me the money spent on tracking down another head sculpt.

Nice pics. I got this for $205 shipped for the non exclusive, a tad cheaper would have been nice but I'm happy with it.

Luke X-Wing gets some Paramore love.:yess:

It will be nice to see this figure at its finest.

:lol

There's been some shots of him looking pretty sweet so I'm very hopeful.

I doubt I'll have time until tomorrow to take any pics (along with the Snowtrooper Officer). Friday night is photo night!

As mentioned before, the figure is indeed a good figure. Bare-boned but a good figure. Your photos will really make it shine. Looking forward to seeing them, Para.

Make sure to do a side by side with the HT Luke sculpt Jason! I dont think even your photography can make the Pilot Luke sculpt look all that good. I am still so disappointed in the flat look of the paint app. The sculpt itself I think looks better than the HT version, but is ruined by a lack of realistic paint which is where the HT version shines.

Has anyone repainted this sculpt yet? I'd love to see it rescued by a great paint job.

Only one thing annoying me is that I can't get the visor to align with the bridge of his nose.

I had that problem on the first damaged helmet, and also on the first replacement. The second replacement - sent due to an unstitched suit - was perfect.

:exactly:

All four are.

Interested to see too.

But paramore's an ace photographer, not a miracle worker. :monkey3
