When did Texas become "small market"? They play in the 4th biggest market in the country.:lol

Anyway, this should be a good series. Rangers in 6.

They spend money like a small market team does and don't seem to have a lot of money. So I'd say they're a mid level market team much like the Cards are.

AGREED! Go CARDS!!! And T-Plush can go ____ himself!

Yeah, that turd can shut up now. :lol

The Cards just resigned him during the off season. They're not getting rid of him. Not a chance.

They did that's news to the rest of the world.

They picked up option for this year last year and then negotiated until beginning of season but no deal. He said he wouldn't negotiate until after the season.

Until they resign Pujols they have to consider it. I'd say even after they resign him he's fair game when the Cards see the Pujols price tag. Can't commit too much money to only 2 players. Holliday may be the casualty, especially as young guys like Freese start playing well enough to compensate.

that's why, there are no big market teams and the ratings will suffer. and the games won't end until the next morning so why a good reason to invest time on them?

So if I understand you correctly, you would watch if other people told you to watch, but you won't watch because other people aren't telling you to watch?

well i would only have an incentive if any of the players I have on fantasy were there, plus I was always suspicious that Pujols juices and I don't like Hamilton because of his drinking past and he caused the death of the fan earlier in the year.

Clearly, championships should be determined by market size rather than play on the field. I, for one, support this idea and would rather watch the team with the bigger payroll rather than the team with the best players playing the best game they can.

I mean, who the ____ watches baseball for the game? We just want to oogle at highly paid pretty boys for 3 hours at a time, right?

right and sometimes if the team is not well known but has a feel good cindrella journey to the championship, it piques the interest but nothing special about either teams here. rays and phillies would have made very nice ratings

nothing special....other than of course winning their way into the position they're in now. nothing special about that.

Rays? Rays can't even get 20,000 fans to show up for playoff games. I remember seeing Longoria on TV begging for fans to show up :lol

:lecture Exactly. Go Cards!!!

Right, driving 30+ minutes for $10 tickets is really worth it. There is no public transportation that goes from St Pete to Tampa.

You're complaining about ten dollar tickets to a professional game? :rotfl

No point taking continuing this discussion if spending ten bucks on your team is too much for you. Rays will be moved soon to a city who appreciates them anyway.

I was talking about Holliday.

I guarantee they aren't and won't. The reason they traded for and gave him his contract was to help keep Pujols. The Cards can afford it and will do so to stay competitive. Now, they could trade Holliday in a few years but it won't be anytime soon. Baseball is King in St. Louis and those folks demand a winner.

Seeing the average person is spending $15 in gas to go in the first place, drive across 3 interstates and 2 bridges, yeah it's ridiculous to expect the attendance to compare to the larger cities. Since you can't make that distinction maybe you shouldn't continue the discussion.
