Sorry but "Mitta Lou Tour. Coming Mitta Lou Tour". I can't get down with that. It turns an otherwise great villain into a joke. but to each his own.

The man has an opinion - respect it :lol
I don't even remember Otis

Last time I saw the first film was maybe 10 yrs ago...

Thank you for that. Watch it again and see if you cringe more than once. I let my kids watch it thinking "Oh man this is gonna be great. They will love it!" As I was watching I silently cried in horror at how bad it was.

Williams score plus Christopher Reeves in flight is movie magic but everything else?

On to Man of Steel. I am really looking forward to a great adaptation of this character and franchise. I hope Noland and Snyder can pull it off. I get goosebumps everytime I watch the SDCC footage.

Re: The Man of Steel

He's like the Jar Jar Binks of Superman!

Yeah, he was.
Movie would've been better with out him.
There are some cringe worthy moments alright.
But Reeve proves he's THE Superman for the ages because he carries the movie on his back, he plays Kal el totally straight and with respect. Some great moments keep the movie from flying off to shlockville.

Thanks for not pulling out the torches and pitchforks. I loved those movies as a kid and still do for the sake of nostalgia. Reeves/Brando/Williams will never be topped in my opinion. I just hope this movie gives a new light and life to an amazing character.

Re: The Man of Steel

I have a virtual pitchfork but I never bring it to online debates coz internet is not so serious business mate :rotfl totally agree that we need a new take and I am digging what they've shown us so far.

Re: The Man of Steel

Luthor was always the weakest link. Hell, in the first film he got to keep his hair under the ruse of wearing a wig. Donner even had to trick Hackman just to get him to shave his mustache for the role! Mario Puzo didn't give the character a chance either when he wrote him as an aspiring real estate mogul. What the hell ever though.

I'd like to see a Luthor who doesn't need a hideout and has tremendous wordly power that Superman has to work around.

In Otis' defense, he did add some needed chuckles while watching Hackman phone his performance in.

Re: The Man of Steel

Didn't Tom Mankiewicz largely re-write Supes 1 and 2 for Richard Donner though? I'm not sure how much they kept of Puzo's stuff.

Edit- Hackman phoning in Luthor? Wow. I had no idea people felt this way about Superman the movie :rotfl That whole movie is just solid gold for me.

Dah, looking back I guess I never got it straight exactly who went down that line with him, you could be right. Ultimately, Donner had the reigns on that.

I loved the movies, but because Reeve pulled off such a good Superman, Hackman's lackluster Luthor was easily overlooked. In 2 he was Zod's Otis.

The first two Superman movies were great, but Luthor has never been the reason for that. There's alot of opportunity for future films I think, but I'm just one fanboy.

Re: The Man of Steel

I can't believe they got Hackman back for Supes 4 :rotfl, I chucked the blu ray on the other day, man that flick is a bit of a steaming pile :rotfl he must have got some serious $$$

Must have. His voiceover on the Sun-Man was comedy gold! :lol

Ha haaaaa! That's right. I forgot about that. Wow. I thought three was bad. Going up against an evil super computer? Ugh! The coolest thing about three was the fake kryptonite and bad superman. Awesome stuff. I really thought he was going to bust down Lana Lang there for a while.

Quest for peace was bad but a small improvement over 3. Which isn't saying much. I think they all needed to pay the mortgage on their summer homes. Lol. It was cool to see supes go up against someone who could hurt him but wow.

Re: The Man of Steel

Yeah I was like 8 when that one came out I was so stoked with it then but watching it now it's terri-bad. Evil Supes in Superman 3 is cool but why the hell is Richard Pryor in that movie? That is nearly a frikkin RIchard Pryor movie man he gets so much screen time :rotfl

Re: The Man of Steel

When you're a kid you assume adults know what they're doing so you go along with the emotional cues and gloss over everything else. I remember watching 3 as a kid and thinking what was so evil about wanting to be friends with the pretty lady, but I went with it anyway. :monkey4 :lol
