Re: The Man of Steel

Superman the movie is ____awesome and people dissing it are just weirdos. Yes we need a new take on Supes but please don't be dissing one of the greatest (the greatest ever?) superhero movies of all time.

WOW! Couldn't have said THAT better! :clap:exactly::goodpost:

Re: The Man of Steel

Yeah I was like 8 when that one came out I was so stoked with it then but watching it now it's terri-bad. Evil Supes in Superman 3 is cool but why the hell is Richard Pryor in that movie? That is nearly a frikkin RIchard Pryor movie man he gets so much screen time :rotfl

Richard Pryor was a big star when it came out.

I like part 3 for the Clark, Superman fight, but that's about it. Also I could not agree more about what you said regarding the first two films. Superman is still one of the best comic to screen adaptations, wonderfully directed and wonderfully acted, it balances the fine line between drama and comedy beautifully. And Superman 2 still has one of the best Superhero fight scenes ever.

I had high hopes for Returns but it turned out to be a carbon copy with better special effects. Decent story but Singer was trying too hard to follow in Donner's footsteps and pay homage to the originals. I still liked Routh in the role. But Brando's voice and Williams score sold that movie.

Re: The Man of Steel

iunno.. for me, he had 3 hits in a row.

Dawn of the Dead (Remake)
300
Watchmen

Enjoyed all 3 and have watched all 3 multiple times.

I didn't even know he directed that POS owl movie at first. Tried watching that thing like twice and couldn't get through it either time. And Sucker Punch was just atrocious.

So who knows how Superman will turn out. :lol

Completely agree, although I sort of liked the owl movie. It had it's moments to say the least.

Sucker Punch also had some fantastic moments but I was ultimately let down.

When you look at it, his 3 best movies have all been remakes or comic adaptations. The only places he has fallen are in original storytelling and childrens movies.

So with that in mind, Man of Steel should be great:lecture

That movie was bad on so many levels, boring as hell, acting was mediocre at best and the whole storyline was an utter failure. I will never watch another Sup movie made by Singer for as long as I live. With that being said I'm Really excited for Man of Steel!!

Re: The Man of Steel

Thread is becoming gay. I remember when BB was announced, Burton's Batmans suddenly became the hipster movie to hate and pick apart because douchebags can't fathom liking both. Same ____, different channel.

Re: The Man of Steel

We saw TDKR last night. I'll have to see it again to have before I come to a final decision as to whether I liked it or not because I'm still recovering from a flu.

BUT - did you guys notice the similarity between what Jor-el says in the voice-over for "Man of Steel" and the speech Alfred says at the end of TDKR?

They both even used the same line "And they will join you in the Sun".

This is another reason I want to see it again - to make sure I heard it right.

See. That's why I need to see TDKR again. :banghead Both me and my fiancee are sure that we heard it said at the end of TDKR - by either Gordon or Alfred. I remember it being Alfred.

Re: The Man of Steel

Seen it three times... Alfred didn't say that. At the end of the movie, the only monologue was Gordon and he read from "Tale of Two Cities".

Alfred didn't have an end of the movie monologue...

Re: The Man of Steel

Well that could have very well been the case. I was hopped up on medication. :lol Will likely see it again next weekend and confirm if I heard it - or was just an hallucination.

Mr. Freeze was in it though right? :wink1:
