Re: The Man of Steel

Er, Nolan/Goyer created him. He didn't exist in the comics.

With the exception of Blake's name, it's not that much different than the Batman & Robin comic from 2009 which featured Grayson as Batman after Wayne "died" in Final Crisis. It went over surprisingly well with the fans so I don't see how this wouldn't. It'd take a bit of getting used to, but it'd work just as well.

Big fan of the new suit!! Just hoping this movie kicks some major arse!

The new suit's not too bad, I can definitely see the influence of the new 52 costume in the dropping of the red trunks. I just wish they had given us a red belt like the new 52 costume so the mid section didn't look so plain.

I'm willing to accept a fair amount of revisionism in my comic book movies. Hell, I might even accept Robin taking on the mantle of Batman. Forget 2009, that's essentially what Earth 2 Robin did many many years ago when his Batman died (even though he kept the Robin persona).

But I would not accept some schmuck Nolan created named Blake as Batman in a JLA movie. That is my line in the sand. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

i remember in the trailer when i went to see the last batman that it was the director of the batman movies that was doing this one

Then your line in the sand is actually a circle around you because it's already happened. Unless your beef is with Nolan in general.

Re: The Man of Steel

No, my main beef is with a character not from the comics parading around as Batman in a major film. But yes, taking something that happened in a secondary comic universe (Earth-2) or a cheap money grab marketing gimmick (Final Crisis) and making it apply to one of the few standard film iterations of one of DC's most important characters would also bug me a bit. Would you be OK with Steel appearing in lieu of Clark Kent in the JLA movie? There were 2 primary Flashes, a handful of different primary Green Lanterns, but Diana is Wonder Woman, Clark is Superman, and Wayne is Batman. Would feel extremely second rate if they tried to pull anything else there. Hell, why not stick Azrael into Batman's shoes? Electricity Superman? Why not?

They're already planning on doing it with Green Lantern. Expect to see the next one introducing The Rock as John Stewart. :wave :lol

And TBH, I don't see how Deadliest Catch Clark isn't following in those footsteps. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Well like I said, I can accept revisionism within limits. I can handle Rock as John Stewart, honestly. But Blake as Batman would be too far.

Then I can only hope you prepare for disappointment. Honestly, I think a Blake Batman would sell a hell of a lot more than yet another Batman origin movie that won't even come close to being as successful as Batman Begins.

Warner Bros. Already stated that the batman "reboot" is set up for 2016, won't be an origin story and will pick up in Batman's second year.

Might be possible if they continued with Blake. Hope they do.

I never saw anything about 2016. All I've heard was 2014 with a possible delay to 2015.

I've never been much of a Superman fan but I want this Hot Toys figure already:lol

And is it safe to assume the outcry for lack of briefs is this years Spider-Man's belt buckle? I know "fans" need their accessories.
