I haven't seen part 5. But I like the previous 4. But then again I have no serious attachment to any of them. Action movies are just numb brained fun.

Re: The Man of Steel

My favorite line from any review:

"It raises the bar in terms of superhero brawls so high that Kevin Feige is going to have to install ladders at Marvel Studios."

Re: The Man of Steel

From one of the Rotten tomato reviews " Mr. Nolan already ruined Batman. Now he incinerates the innocence and humor of the Man of Steel, who registers more like a Model of Marzipan"

Enough there is no point in debating with someone like this.
I want to know just one thing all these people who are knocking this movie how did they judge Iron Man 3 because I had to check my watch during that movie that's when I knew I was not feeling it and I thought Star Trek into Darkness was a better movie better pace it flowed better it literally had me on the edge of my seat.

The impact of the fighting in terms of destruction and mayhem was a level above anything we've seen in the Marvel movies. However, I didn't care quite as much about Superman. It was visually impressive, but it felt a bit like watching someone playing a really incredible video game. I wasn't as invested in the characters as I was in Avengers. Metropolis was far more devastated than New York in Avengers, but I was rooting and cheering for Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, etc. far more than Superman. I was watching it and thinking how cool it looked, but with a lesser degree of emotional attachment and sense of fun.

Thanks for confirming my biggest fear. :(

Not upset at you, I appreciate the feedback, you're one of the members whos opinion is usually spot on.

Kind of like watching the finale of Transformers: Dark of the Moon then?

I just question how some of these people are even allowed to have opinions. When someone's review on Rotten Tomatoes is simply "Whatever," I have to ask how said person is even employed.

Actually, it's not a bad comparison in terms of what is at stake. The villains have very similar goals in the two films. But I certainly cared more about Superman than Shia La Barf.

There is a level of destruction and collateral damage in Man of Steel that surpasses Transformers and Avengers. You have a clearer sense that yes, the bad guy is going to destroy all life on Earth. But again, I wasn't made to care quite as much about Superman in everything leading up to the action.

I am going to watch it again and see how my reaction is after a second viewing.
