Re: The Man of Steel

I have yet to watch a superhero movie that excited and electrified the audience the way Avengers did in the theater, and it carried over to home viewing just fine and mostly intact even w/o the large crowd.

This is what I want from MOS.

TDK did the same but in a somber, depressing and suicide kind of way if that makes any sense. :lol

I know I'm in the minority, but Avengers just didn't wow me. It was entertaining, and it holds up to repeat viewings unlike others(IM2). But I still prefer Cap's film. To me it's my 2nd or 3rd fav Marvel movie(Def behind Cap, maybe behind Incrediible Hulk)

I really hope i enjoy MoS.

And i get what you are saying about TDK. While it's my fav of the Nolan series, it's not one I can watch all the time like say Batman 89. But TDK is a better film. i put it in the category of the Godfather or LOTR. Great films, but you are not watching them all the time. it has become my "What kind of crap did i just watch? I need TDK to cleanse my movie palettte."

I've got to say that I agree very much with the first statement. I thought it was a great, highly entertaining movie, but it just didn't hit the spot for me. I still believe that the first Iron Man tops it. I don't know. It certainly had a more positive effect on me than IM3, but leaving the theater, I just wanted TDKR to come out.:lol

Re: The Man of Steel

If I don't like this movie I'm blaming Goyer for stealing Superman's soul. :lecture

Re: The Man of Steel

Seems like we were wrong before. People were saying "if it's good, everyone will say it's because of Nolan, and, if it's bad, everyone will say it's because of Snyder." Now, everyone's saying it's because of Goyer.:lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Really looking forward to this, I've been majorly let down by ST and IM3 so far, I hope this will get some of the bad taste out.

Re: The Man of Steel

I'm really surprised by the amount of bad reviews popping up. Rotten Tomatoes is dropping by the hour..
But just noticed AICN is saying its "the best superhero movie ever made" :lol I wonder how much Warner paid Harry for that?! :lol

I was really surprised by all of the positive reviews for IM3 and STID. Maybe I'll like this movie. :lol

...or it could suck worse.

Last time I checked, he was seen coming out of Jeff Robinov's office with brand new 24K gold rims on his wheelchair. His manager declined to comment.

Re: The Man of Steel

MoS has a 65% rottentomatoes score compared to 76% for Superman Returns. No way in hell it's worse than Returns. Critics were really smoking something in 2006. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Even though I'm far more into Marvel than I am DC even without seeing MoS yet I'm inclined to call BS on its 65% rottentomatoes score compared to 76% for Superman Returns. No way in hell it's worse than Returns. I'm guessing a good amount of reviewers just want to take Nolan down a notch and are making Snyder suffer for it.

I tend to agree, the knives are out. Not sure we can blame RT though, they are just reprinting reviews from various outlets.

Re: The Man of Steel

I'm not saying that MoS is guaranteed to be awesome and any naysayers are Nolan/DC bashers but I just can't imagine that its anything but lightyears better than Superman Returns.

Re: The Man of Steel

I think I'll enjoy it. Hopefully, it stays fresh. I just feel bad for Irish, I know how much this meant to him.

Re: The Man of Steel

Part of me thinks that this could be a good thing for Snyder and co, though. Granted, you always want to get the best reviews possible, but, providing that this is the commercial success that we all think it will be, I think that they can examine these criticisms and make an even better sequel if they take them to heart.
