If they're all clones, how is it that the codex contains the DNA of all the ancestors and future kryptonians? If they're all clones how come they don't use the SAME sample? Which is what clone means, IDENTICAL, let's say they use different samples from different people (which is not implied anywhere to be that way) It still beat your point that they would all survive earth because they would still be different people and not clones off each other, and that would also imply that Kal-El himself is a clone of an ancestor, which is downright a crazy unfounded assumption.
But bottomline is: the codex saves the genetic template of generations to come, it's even said in the movie, not only ancestors, and it only says they will fulfill a role in society, it's never mentioned any other modification other than that, so, unless they are the EXACT IDENTICAL INDIVIDUALS, they're not clones.
