not really liking this one, no exclusive sucks, and the fact that even before the size comparison that I just saw he looked to be on the small size already.

oh yeah the statue, other than the base, just screams boring to me.......imo. So I wont be ordering him, and if I do choose to order him later with no exclusive he will be easy to find I'm sure. oh damn I just sounded like CBG.........

I know many of us who are actually ordering DD want him to go with Punisher and I know Height is a concern so I did real quick mock up. I won't give my opinion I'll just let you guys have it.

I am not into Marvel and not sure which characters I will be getting in future, but DD is one of my favourites and I am looking forward to adding him in the collection, eventually. The height is sure something I have a concern about; however, not a deal breaker. If the base was the top of a Church or something, he would have been a 10/10 for me.

Since I collect DC and won't be displaying him along with Bats or anyone else ever, still, when I compare him with others he looks quite short. I think if it is a crouching pose, a tall base would actually make more sense.

I thought GL looked strange and puny* between Bats and Supes, DD is even shorter than him. The only way I'd display him would be on the top shelf or elevate him.

Is People not buying statues they like for a lack of an exclusive really all that much of a problem? If anything having the option of an EX might persuade someone to buy a statue they are on the fence about, but I have never heard of someone passing on a statue they loved because of the lack of an EX. People who like daredevil but not to crazy about the statue might be persuaded to buy it because of the bonus an EX brings to it.



A few tweaks and some paint and you could have the DC hero Wildcat.

I do agree with you, a good Ex can pursued someone to buy a statue they're on the fence about and there's nothing wrong with that. I specifically mentioned if SS was going the way of NO EX AT ALL how that would affect people who value having rare things over their value for the characters and art form. I believe those people would quit. It was just my opinion about that very specific thing.

Exs are so subjective. On one hand Classic Iron Man Ex looks considerably different from the regular so the Ex is definitely a deal breaker, but Black Widow has a knife Ex, no big deal beyond just having an extra option, the statue itself is still the same. There's always "good" and "bad" Exs beyond just having one. But at the same time if there is no Ex, you can't judge what isn't there, the statue is truly the centerpiece. For that reason I wonder how people would feel if there were less exclusives but more switch outs? Like if every Daredevil was the same statue but came with hand/billy club options that looked cool, would that make a difference and make having no Ex ok? Either way I don't think that's a problem.

But as far as people not buying a statue just for lack of Ex, I think back to Hawkeye. If memory serves correct (and it might not) there was a lot of excitement for it and speculation of the Ex being a head or Ant Man on an arrow, but I recall once the Ex was revealed to be a print there were people who were so disappointed they decided not to order at all.

As for Sideshow moving to selling statues without EX's, they would definitely lose my business over it, but not for the reason you are thinking. I buy from SS because it's the only place to get the exclusive, everything else can be gotten cheaper from other venues. So why pay extra to Sideshow for the same piece you can get $30-$50 cheaper somewhere else. I'll still be buying the statue, just not from them.

It doesn't have to be a lifestyle. I wouldn't go that far for most. But I think a lot of people just want rare things instead of characters they enjoy or pieces of art they just like with no bells and whistles... or in the case of statues, switch outs that only some will have.



Me too.

Everyone has their own reasons for collecting; there is no right or wrong in that respect. If it makes someone feel good to have a more-limited version of a statue (referring to an EX) or to focus on rarer pieces in general even if their final decision to buy is based on ES, that doesn't make them any less of a collector than those of us who may actually love certain characters ( and subsequently may purchase even if we aren't 100% sold on the sculpt) or others that buy based upon the emotion of the sculpt, regardless of the character. Everyone collects for their own reasons and I feel that no one reason is more valid than another.

With that being said, I think they did a great job on this sculpt and even though I was hoping for more, I would have ordered this if my list wasn't already full. I don't think I've ever seen a more detailed Daredevil, even if the final presentation is less exciting than I had expected. Those who order this will likely end up loving it when it gets released.

Talking about Exclusives being an international buyer it's much better when there isn't one I want. Like the new Hulk for example, the Ex on that is a must so it's going to cost me more than buying locally with import tax & shipping etc.

But if I lived in the States I would be wanting an awesome Ex every time

DD's scale looks to be fine. When you compare the head and left arm to Punisher's, it looks to be the proper size. I'm not concerned about scale on DD.

The more I look at it, the more I like this! Really shows off the costume well.

For me, there are no local stores that sell these for less. All the stores that i know of that do sell SS stuff get it months later...meaning less chance for getting a replacement if needed.

At the end of the day, I order direct from SS to get rewards, get the product in hand quicker, deal direct with SS if something goes wrong...and it ends up costing me about the same as ordering locally anyway.

Our retailers in Canada tend to put giant markups on what they carry in store. It is cheaper for me to buy directly from SSC, and that is not counting the reward points.

As an exmaple, one of my LCS has a Spider-Woman PF for $550 when she was still in stock at SSC. This was also when our dollar was on parity with the US currency. I don't know how they justify a $225 markup.
