Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

Going withe Miles instead of Peter would be a good way of avoiding the reboot issue. Three versions of Peter in a decade in a half is alot. but doing Miles is fresh and would remove that issue

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

I would be shocked if they didn't use Peter Parker as he is the most famous Spidey and everyone knows who he is. also considering the Marvel Universe is more diverse already with the inclusion of Falcon and Black Panther (who will have his own franchise) they wouldn't feel the need to shoehorn in Miles or anything for diversity sake.

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

I'm not a comic book reader so I know nothing about anyone else being Spider-Man other than Peter Parker lol.

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

I don't know if Miles would be just for diversity's sake. He has been singlehandedly holding the Marvel Ultimate Universe afloat and has a large fan base. If they use Peter I wouldn't be shocked if we saw Miles as well. His origin could be told alongside Spider-Man, he was influenced by Spider-Man and I could see him being a way to bring in multiple audiences. I wouldn't entirely shocked if they didn't intro Miles and claim him for Marvel alone since in the MUU he was involved a lot with Sam Jackson's Nick Fury

How is 3 Peter Parkers in a decade a lot? Besides, Parker IS Spiderman. We've seen Bruce Wayne as Batman for 75 years :lol

I believe Marvel is trying to give the fans what they really want, and that would be bringing Spider-Man (Peter Parker) home to Marvel. Marvel hasn't really done anything counterproductive to what the fans want to see (other than the Mandarin in IM3). Why would they want to make him Miles Morales? The backlash from Marvel fans would far outweigh any benefits this announcement just had. Let Sony use him in their films. That way they have a new Spidey to screw up yet again... :rotfl

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

Do African Americans actually want a black Spider-Man? I'd think they wouldn't. I wouldn't want Falcon or Black Panther or Cyborg to be white for instance. I don't like it when "diversity" trumps storytelling. If Marvel wants more black heroes, just make them. They aren't limited to just the icons of the past. Nobody knew who Star-Lord was two years ago and now he's a household name.

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

Agent Coulson could have been black or Asian...if they wanted more diversity. Create new film characters. In fact, create new superheroes. Also, why when people talk about diversity, it's always black/African American? There are more groups out there that are under represented. Native Americans, Asians, Europeans, Middle Easters...hell Hispanics are the largest minority in the US, and you don't see anyone complaining. :dunno

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

I wouldn't be shocked if they continue with it simply to have more opportunity for cash. Sinister Six could be done without a connection to anything Marvel films and be fine. Venom on the other hand might be off depending on which version Marvel wants to use. Rumors are they could use the Flash Thompson version in Guardians as he is popular in the books right now.

Donald as Spidey began trending last night. Marvel in the books is going really big in the diversity realm and it looks like Miles Morales is joining Peter in continuity after the summer event. It's possible that if they don't replace they add to somehow and have both running around. There is a big push for them to use Miles right now. Even Bendis (his creator) is weighing in.

Which is why ultimately why I think Sony agreed. Pascal said Spider-Man is her legacy. With as big of a screw-up has she has had, I would imagine a little fan service and making Spider-Man hugely profitable again is her version of Spin Control

That Donald guy needs to stay far away from Spider-Man. Why do people even want him as Peter Parker or Miles Morales?

Hey wait a minute!!! Isn't Groot African? I thought he was a Baobab, a tree native to Africa. He was experimented on and brought to life by the Skrulls, no??

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

I can actually see "funny urban black kid" making for an entertaining Spider-Man opposite Cap and Stark. So if they changed him I don't think it'd be the end of the world but...I hope they keep him classic.

I'm actually surprised they didn't make Wasp hispanic or asian if Evangaline Lilly actually ends up being Wasp.

Well, Evangeline Lilly could still play a Hispanic character...all it takes is a Hispanic name to make a character Hispanic. There are white Hispanics, black Hispanics, and everything in between, but they didn't do that.

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

I don't mind diversity as long as the casting is an inspired choice. For example, Idris Elba as James Bond, besides his skin color, he has all the ingredients to make a great Bond. I don't like it when it's done for publicity though, if there's a great young black actor that could nail the Peter Parker and Spider-Man persona then I'm on board. We would probably see a lot more diversity in these films but the sad fact is there aren't many known good black actors working today, which is why a ton of black musicians, athletes, and models get casted in big roles these days.

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

You guys are so funny... you actually think they would go with Miles instead of Peter. :lol Not in a million years.

Re: OFFICIAL: Marvel Studios Spider-Man

I have no problems with a black Parker. I think it would certainly be an interesting change and certainly this franchise needs it. I really could go either way in terms of Parker or Morales at this point. I just want a better story, direction, and acting. Everything else is just gravy.
