Pete always was a fan of the Avengers, both in 616 and in 1610. He always wanted to sit in the Big Boys table. he may have debuted a bit earlier (roughly a year), but he was always younger than all of them, so it makes sense, it's nothing weird or forced. Spider-Man was always the young guy in the wide Marvel-line.

Yeah, I'm sure it makes sense, but for me personally, I wasn't an Avengers fan growing up.

I mainly focused on the X Men and Spider-Man comics and cartoons, so the Avengers really weren't a factor, except for the occasional cameo.

I knew about Iron Man, Thor...etc...but to me they were just B List heroes, and Spider-Man was somewhat isolated from the rest of the MU in my experience, even if that wasn't the case, so to me he wasn't just a young kid or a fan, he was Spider-MAN and Marvel's top hero.

It's just weird that I'm now older than Spider-Man ever was, and on top of that, he's like an Avengers fanboy :lol

I agree I think studios should just keep cranking out the same exact solo Spiderman story for the next 50 years of him getting bit, uncle Ben dying, aunt May sad and MJ and Gwen drama.

Over and over and over and then we can just keep comparing it to the almighty Spiderman 2.

Yup, Spiderman has no business interacting with ANY of the other 100 superheroes in the Marvel lineup.

**** dat noise!

Kinda in the same boat with tastes. I grew up on the Fox X-Men and Spider-Man cartoons. I watched the Iron Man and F4 cartoons too, but they were pretty mediocre by comparison.

Eh, growing up I only read DC stuff & Ultimate Marvel. It wasn't until I got the internet, got into Ebay and whatnot that I started reading regularly. I created a pull back in 2012. There's always time to get into something new.

You know I was only going to check out Homecoming for Keaton but after the trailer I must say I'm looking forward to seeing how Spidey in this new "Raimi-esque" world interacts with Stark and other heroes. The Spidey origin/reboot/repeat scenario was SO tired but now they have actually piqued my interest again.

Oh yeah, Iron Man with the mustache and mullet.

He had a butler like Batman too.

There was also a Hulk cartoon that wasn't very good.

I almost got into Ultimate Spider-Man, because growing up my favorite Spidey artist was Mark Bagley.

I loved the way he drew Spider-Man, so when I heard he was coming back to Spidey, it was a big deal, but he changed the style. He made Spidey a big headed alien looking dude with a tiny body, and even though it made sense because he was a kid, I just couldn't get into it....even if the stories were great.

In retrospect, I don't mind the Ultimate look, and it looks kind of cool, but I'm stuck in the early 90's when it comes to Spider-Man art.

Nobody said they should crank out the same story over and over again , but marvel continues to use these characters as advertisement for upcoming movies. The movie is sub servant to the shared universe and as such they have to include these references to characters that seem out of place. So if the role was switch and we had spiderman showing up in an iron man movie while he is fighting Crimson Dynamo that would be fine, it would be awkward.

I don't need to see Iron man simply because marvel has a new iron suit and now they want to sell some toys. I want a complete movie story and not a high budget tv show. What are they going to do the same thing and have CW crossovers in movies too.

I wouldn't be so cynical about the idea of Spider-Man interacting with the Avengers characters if the person he looked up to was anyone but Tony Stark. I hate the Robert Downy Jr. character now. His Stark is an insufferable SOB. He's like a little weasel. I loved him in the first couple of Iron Man movies and Avengers but after Iron Man 3 (which I also liked him in), I just can't stand him, I really can't. His personality is just awful and grating to me, I feel like he ran his course in Iron Man 3 and that was a good time to end his character. Now, it's just like a repetitive cycle. "I'm done I quit, no more building stuff". Then he's right back to it in the next movie. "I'm done with the Avengers, good luck guys." Then he's right back on the team in the next movie. Looking back, Whiplash had the right idea of wanting to kill off Stark way back in Iron Man 2. He's not really a good guy.

As far is this movie goes, Stark is involved in everything. Spider-Man's motivations (he looks up to him), his costume, his more advanced web shooters, trying to nail Aunt May,
Keaton's backstory (Stark is the reason Vulture becomes Vulture),
the Shocker, etc. etc. It makes this world look incredibly smaller than it should be, with the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy. Yeah, yeah, Stark was the introduction to this cinematic universe, but his character pours into every faucet of the MCU. The narcissistic thing was fine in the early days of the character, but he's not growing at all. Not really fond of RDJ either, who basically gets a pay check from Marvel movie to Marvel movie for simply walking around in front of a green screen (either walking out of the CGI armor in a full suit, or, his head floating on a laughably bad CGI body). The whole Iron Man schtick with him and all the armors is getting old. To see him be such a main component in SPIDER-MAN just taints it a bit, for me anyway.

That's a bingo!

The Spiderman universe is so big his rouges gallery is by far the most unique then any of these other characters in marvel the green goblin saga with the death of Gwen Stacy is one of the best marvel stories and still holds up. But marvel has forsaken their individual characters for the sake of the larger cinematic universe and this is not a just a symptom of marvel but DC looks to be doing that and only time will tell how far they will take it.

I want a complete contained story with out feeling I should watch further movies its exactly like reading a comic and then they reference an event and they have and * at the in ht bubble point to issue so and so.

Well that's stupid.

That's the thing about Stark as a character, it's kind of hard to not to feel disgruntled by the guy. It's a wonder not everyone is becoming a super villain because of his antics. But it does feel like we've been through this rodeo over and over again. Whiplash and his dad hate him (for good reasons), the Mandarin hated him (for good reasons), Baron Zemo hated him (for good reasons). Michael Douglas and Ant-Man hate him (for good reasons).

And this time I think,

People will be more sympathetic towards the Vulture than Tony Stark. Especially the way Tony Stark humiliates Peter for just trying to save people.

Nothing would please me more than to have Captain America decapitate Stark with "his father's" shield.

Yup. And a character like Osborn/Norman would never work in this universe anyway. He'd no doubt be a rival of the Stark family. A lot of Spider-Man's classic rogues would be in the same situation.

Especially with Keaton's line in the trailer where he says "I'll do anything to protect my family." Who the hell wouldn't relate to that?" Versus Stark basically being the villain for three straight movies now.

I hope that spoiler isn't true- total lack of imagination and horrible lazy crap recycled since Batman 1989................load of c*** if true

I hope that spoiler isn't true- total lack of imagination . . .

This is what some people said to me when I said that Batman and Superman would become friends upon Batman learning that their mother's shared the same name or that Leto was barely in Suicide Squad. :lol

But yeah,

Stark ****s up Keaton's company/business by trying to be the attention, glory seeking, narcisstic **** he is (as if Stark doesn't have enough better things to do and didn't learn his lesson after Age of Ultron and Civil War). A ton of blue collar workers get laid off and Keaton is pissed.

Doesn't matter, Tony has jokes and kewl shirts.

He could literally kill a puppy, then feel sorry about it with that great RDJ acting, make a joke, and people be like, "Aww...good old Tony."

This has turned into an amusing thread. Enjoying myself with my big ol' medium mocha iced coffee and double chocolate doughnut. :lol

But in all seriousness, I'm amazed. Based on the trailer, it looks like Peter won't be entirely dependent on Tony Stark in the film. I think it's safe to assume that Peter will prove himself without Stark.

Its 3:00 PM and I'm drinking coffee too! :hi5:

I honestly don't care if Peter is shown sucking on Tony's nip. :lol

We've seen the independent Spidey in previous film, so having something different is fine with me.

What's the point of the MCU deal if you don't have certain characters show up?

Also, Tony's technology is pretty cool and it puts the cinematic Batman to shame.

His Spidey suit is pretty brilliant because it explains how the suit can fit Peter perfectly.

I'm not a fan of the spider chest drone or the black lines on the costume, but I don't hate the suit either.
