I do prefer S1 over S2.

I use the 4K remaster version of the times square balloon scene as a demo loop to show off color vibrancy and detail, drop dead gorgeous.

You said the suit made no sense, not the design.

Well to me the design IS the suit. I like when filmmakers take the extra time to evaluate and justify their design. It helps when you take a comic character and toss it into the real world.

Obviously it was made to emulate the comic book character, but its so different that they could have gone another direction. Perhaps a little more real-world direction instead of so flashy and monstrous.

The suit is very different than the comic version, and I thought it made plenty of sense in terms of why he would wear it, which is the most important part in my opinion, not the design of it. Either way, I think the reason is looks a certain way is obviously to fit the Goblin brand that Norman was working on.

Never said it was perfect, but as we can see, you're reaching to find some problems with it :lol

I don't see how Uncle Ben's speech didn't fit the scenario, he noticed Peter was changing, getting into fights at school, becoming irresponsible at home, having an attitude etc... he noticed Peter was changing, and gave him a much needed speech. Since your father would do the opposite it makes no sense? Everyone is different.

But the quote does not go with the scenario. It's a good quote but they put it in because it's a good quote and it's part of the Spidey mythos. How does noticing someone change correlate to having great power unless he knew something already. That quote better fit the first Superman movie in the scene when Clark talks to his father right before his fathers heart attack. Clark has great power but he wanted to play football and show off, but he couldn't. Great power comes great responsibility. It doesn't fit after you had a fight with a bully unless you know the person had the power to do so much more.

He clearly said in that speech that he knew Peter was going through changes, he noticed a change especially being irresponsible and then getting into a fight with a bully, in assuming Uncle Ben must have heard exactly how it went down and felt Peter might have gone a bit too far, he punched Flash and Flash went flying. It's why men are told not to hit woman, even if they're attacked by woman. Uncle Ben felt like Peter had no business beating someone he easily could beat up, and gave him a speech about it, I don't see how his speech doesn't fit, and it wasn't said only because of the fight, it was the other stuff Peter was doing as well.

What Goblin brand? Were the supposed super-soldiers going to be called "Goblins"? If so, I never caught that part.

No, but the serum was called the Goblin serum, which was made for soldiers, so I'm assuming the suit was part of that brand.

If anything, Spider-Man's suit makes less sense to me, and how it was created :lol

Saw it last night, extremely mediocre across the board.

First thing I have to get off my chest, what is it with all this love for Michael Keaton? Can people be honest? The guy is barely in the movie, he's not even remotely close to being a great villain, he has zero memorable scenes, not even anything memorable action wise, his performance was on par with just about ever other MCU villain actor. All I can say is unlike most other MCU villains, his plight resonated with me, that's really it. Nothing about the character or performance was in any way special or unique. I cringed when he killed Shocker which I'm assuming is his first murder ever, and he just acts like it's another day at the office, but then again this is an MCU flick so of course this movie can't focus on some realistic reactions to darker moments, everything is just blown off by a joke. I understand people like his Batman, and Beetlejuice was fantastic, but be honest people, the blind fanboy love that guy gets is pretty sickening.

On to Tom Holland, I really enjoyed him in the role, he's a far better Spider-Man/Peter Parker than Andrew Garfield, and would certainly rate him higher, he probably is the best live action Spider-Man to date if you compare him to the comics, but Toby is still number one in my book. Holland overdid the whole teenager thing in my book and at times came off more like a 10 year old. Everything that came out of his mouth was "woah, super cool, that's awesome!" Etc... I felt like I was watching a caricature of a teenager, his performance never felt real to me. I loved his chemistry with Aunt May though, and while she didn't have a lot of screen time I think Marisa is probably the best aunt May to date.

Surprisingly I also liked the new Flash, I thought the kid playing him had some of the funniest lines in the movie, and came off more as a real bully in this day and age, especially for a highschool in Manhattan. The rest of the supporting cast were absolutely forgettable and cliche.

I'm a fan of Bokeem Woodbine, he's been in a ton of stuff but he was just fodder in this movie, I actually wish he was the shocker to die because the white bearded shocker actually had a ton of charisma and personality, he was actually more interesting than Bokeem and Michael Keaton combined, shame we won't see him again.

Hands down the worst action from a Spider-Man movie to date. The Raimi trilogy action absolutely smokes this, the swinging also seemed like a major step down compared to previous Spider-Man films. The CGI was abysmal as well. The final battle with Vulture also ranks up there with one of the worst final battles I've seen in a superhero movie ever, this was even worse than Cap vs Red Skull on that jet, anticlimactic, rushed, and unoriginal.

Liked Tony Stark in this a lot, I got shades of Tony Stark from Iron Man 1 in this. Downey had just enough screen time to not be annoying. This has been the first time I liked seeing Downey as Stark since IM1.

Overall, this was a mediocre movie, absolutely forgettable, I can't see myself ever watching this again. Extremely inferior to the first two Raimi films, and I would say it's about on par with the first Amazing Spider-Man. It seemed focus on only two things, world building, and showing Spider-Man in unusual circumstances, there was barely a story, subpar villains, subpar supporting cast, horrible action, and this was basically another origin film. I liked Holland, Flash, Stark, and the Captain America cameos were great.

6/10 in my book which is the same score I gave The Amazing Spider-Man.

I would rate the Sony Spider-Men like this:

Toby
Holland
Garfield

I'd like to see Holland act like more of a human being in the next film (if I watch it) and not a cartoon.

I don't think the first and second movies will be matched cause there was a magic to them. Something really great that we've never seen before. We waited so long for these characters to be out on film and now here they were. Then we got spoiled and now superhero movies are the norm and seeing some of these characters is inevitable. Seeing doc ock poster for the first time was insane cause nothing like that has bee achieved before

So based on this thought a bully who beats up on a smaller guy has great power and with that great power a responsibility not to beat up smaller guys?

So much bait :lol

I'm assuming uncle Ben didn't see it that way, he saw it as his nephew was a lot stronger than a trouble maker and could have walked away instead of abusing his power on the bully.

Now that's a stretch!

Why does it look like a monster? Why is it green?
We have bullet-proof armor now and it doesn't look like green dragons.
Because it was designed to resemble High Altitude Fighter Pilots' suits.

Thanks i knew it would be like this. Seems like young modern 20's somethings and beta males are extremely impressed by this.
