Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I didn't care much for Tobey as Spidey. Parker, yes. But I think we're yet to find an actor with that ability to really do justice to both Spidey and his alter ego. Someone new would be better IMO.

I guess Maguire wasn't flashy or sexy enough for karamazov.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Tobey used to say he was done with Spidey unless Raimi was attached to another film, guess times change. Would be weird if they wired the older flicks into the current MCU, just doesn't seem like the direction Marv-Dis moves in.

What?!? Maguire not flashy or sexy enough?!?

How can anyone say that after seeing this?

I actually didn't realize how much better Spidey could really be until Amazing Spider-Man 2. Now, I wouldn't be happy stepping back in time. The exuberance, and easy-going humor of Garfield just nailed Spidey.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I can't tell if you really liked or hated Tobey :lol

I enjoyed the first two films, and thought he did a good job, but I don't think he broke the mold or anything. Certainly, some of the things that he did (crying constantly) weren't his decision to make, but were due to the script. Spider-Man 2 is still the best Spidey movie IMO, but with all that we've seen since, I know there are better potential Spidey movies that could be made.

He was decent enough but he was fodder for lots of funny gifs. :lol

It'd be kind of cool to bring him back just to have as many "first timers" that played Marvel heroes in one film. Throw in Jackman and they'd be set.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I should also add--there is certainly an important place for angsty, frustrated, angry and aggressive Spidey. But it's not the core of what he is, and should be jarring to see because it is so counter to that core Spider-Man character (though very common to Parker). So, the deaths of Gwen Stacey and Jean DeWolff, and Kraven's Last Hunt really stick out in folks' minds, because it gave us versions of Spidey we hadn't seen to that point, and was the result of the worst kinds of trauma.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Actually, I think it would be pretty cool to bring back Maguire. That would solve the problem of not having to do the origin again. He's well established, and we can finally have the "older" Spider-MAN that alot of people want.

plus the banter between tobey and iron man and the rest would be awesome

I never realize how much better Spidey could be until I read Bendis' original Ultimate Spider-Man run as well as his New Avengers run and watched the Spectacular Spider-Man. As much as I liked Garfields Spider-Man, his Peter was written like a douche.

Thank you for making that distinction. I still loved Garfield as Spidey. Is there a fan edit of ASM2 of just the Spidey moments?

I've read some of the early Ultimate Spidey stuff, and watched some of the Spec. Spidey cartoons, and didn't care for either nearly as much as the classic Stan Lee work. Though I must say, the terrible animation style in the Spectacular Spidey cartoon did it no favors.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Only time I didn't mind Garfield as Peter was when he was with Gwen. Even then though it's not as how Peter would act. But hands down his Spidey is my absolute favorite compared to any media version of Spidey.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Garfield IS spidey to me. He talks and acts how I read classic spidey talking and acting back in the day.

Neither TM or AG have captured Parker however.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

The way Garfield was a smart ass during the rhino and Electro fight, I can see his banter well received. I can see Banner, Clint, and Cap annoyed with his banter (as is their characters) Tony preCW would enjoy him and kind of annoyed post. And BW is so ****ed. Why is she sassy? Never really saw her as sassy but whatever.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I really like the first two Raimi SM films and I like TM, but neither TM or AG are that good, imo. They're alright at best, but easily replaceable and both would get owned by RDJ in the smart-ass department :lol

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Im honestly maybe in the minority here but capture the feel of the 90s animated series can't go wrong with that just have Spider-Man throw some punches.
