Holdo's kamikaze > Bilbo's kamikaze

Luke stepping out of the bunker > T'Challa stepping out of the flames

Luke's sunset death > Killmonger's sunset death

Opening TLJ space battle >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> All BP action combined

I'll definitely trade you guys Rose for T'Challa's sister though, lol.

Funny but true.

Porgs harassing Chewie > Rhinos harassing BP

I will give BP the cooler handshake though lol

Like or hate this movie we can all agree about the insane box office results

I do appreciate that Coogler comes across as another Gareth Edwards who just states that he wanted to make a great movie in a universe that he loves about the characters he grew up with. Now BP was no RO but at least he isn't sporting "Vibranium is black" t-shirts or other nonsense.

Now I haven't watched interviews from other BP cast and crew members so for all I know they have been pushing the SJW stuff but hopefully that isn't the case.

Gareth clearly the better visual story teller though.

Not really impressed by Coogler on this nothing took my breath away lol

Hell yes.

And I can't help but notice that those of us who thought that BP was a step backward from CW aren't weeping and wailing and gnashing our teeth and running off to foreign box office sites or pulling YouTube videos from various nobodies to find any statistic we can to invalidate the critical praise or box office success of BP. It is what it is (a commercial and critical juggernaut) and I'm quite content to sit back and let fans of the movie enjoy it even if I don't think it holds a candle to other recent blockbusters, MCU or otherwise.

Just sayin'.

*Shrug* why bother? It's like lifting a rug up and you see the dust underneath. Setting aside those who genuinely love the film; even early on if you read some of the critics carefully, there were cracks. Technical stuff; narrative stuff. IMO like WW it's just one of those films that could do no wrong or like Suicide Squad rolls the money in anyway. Then there's the TLJ thing that had its issues and lover and haters - but unlike the other films, TLJ had some beloved film characters that people had grown up with. Serious fan expectations.

The only real negative IMO is that in "film history" it'll be the most generic stuff that's repeated over and over, like the RT critic score or BO. Not the rubbery CGI or disconnects or the people that showed up just because it was an "event".

Heck, I might even go this weekend before it's reduced to the lower-tier theater. LOL I like sitting in those recliner chairs. I've seen most of it in bits and Disney keeps putting out footage, but it might be nice to see stuff in order. Just hard to spend on a film I'm not enthused about. But it doesn't seem like a BAD movie and has some good points. I'll probably really like some stuff.

So this really is the new TLJ thread... just the people here have switched sides. Perfect. :lol

Please stop putting those two in the same sentence.

TLJ is a living nightmare. It's literally something millions of people (possibly billions) wish never happened. It's one of those things that made an already annoying world just a little less tolerable. Society is plummeting geometrically in all sorts of ways but SW was still there to help us escape. Now because of TLJ, it isn't. The corporate machine and the Liberal sensibilities of a suit took SW from us.

BP is a breath of fresh air. It's a reminder that CBMs should be meaningful and not just pointless action set pieces for costumed actors. Like Logan last year, it's a film made to actually say something. It's what happens when the artist overpowers the suits and uses their millions to craft something wonderful (that ironically makes them more money than the safe crap they'd usually rather finance).

TLJ and BP should never be compared.

But it will never be answered, really, if BP would have made the same money if it weren't "diverse" and/or hadn't been part of the very successful MCU - say if DC had released the film. Along with being released right before a highly anticipated movie.

Just sayin' to be fair. But while I don't agree the MCU movies are all that lightweight - they always say SOMETHING without getting ponderous esp. the Russo films - agree TLJ and BP shouldn't be compared.

I liked TLJ tho it had HOLES and silliness and Mary Poppins. But TLJ and BP IMO are too DIVERSE in their respective histories and universes to be compared unless it's BO.

I saw Black Panther again this morning! :rock

I still really enjoyed it. Not as much as the first showing, but the last half really held my attention.

The CGI of the final battle scene also wasn't as bad as I remembered.

My favorite parts this go around:

- The rise and fall of Killmonger - I still think he's the best villain we've seen in the MCU
- The Black Panther vs. Tribes final battle scene - I really liked the moment when Okoye told W'Kabi (in so many words) she'd defend Wakanda over him. Gave me chills.
- The Jabari tribe/M'Baku Mountain scene - Had Michael B. Jordan and the Killmonger character not been so well acted/written, M'Baku might have been my favorite character. I loved his demeanor and interactions with T'Challa. I hope we see him again in Infinity War (even if only for a brief moment).

It's too bad visuals are the only way Gareth can tell a story though. :lol

Don't forget Edwards was fired and Tony Gilroy reshot half that film. The person Jye and Khev deem as "the better visual storyteller" might actually be Gilroy.

Oh man, that is dead on. Disney rehashed Fox and used their 1999 Commodore 64 to make the fx.

This scene is so cool and still is
