Yep I did all that, but I chose Miranda over Jack early on when they were fighting, so I lost the loyalty that I gained with Jack earlier. I'm guessing that's why she died.
Maybe the fact that I got jiggy with Miranda did not help either.
Oh well, no Jack for me in Mass Effect 3. I can live with that. I did not like her much anyway.

That's odd. I had chosen Miranda over Jack as well...and therefore, lost Jack's loyalty. But I was still able to keep her alive at the end. :dunno

And everyone else was loyal on your team?? Oh I forgot to ask, you didn't have Jack on your team did you? If you did (especially the last part at the end) she will die.

I kept her alive by not using her for anything...and having Garrus in charge of my fire team both times. But Garrus also needs to be loyal or else whomever you send in the vents will probably die.

My mistake, I had Garrus and Samara with me at the end. I guess that's how Jack died, because Garrus was not with them.

Wait, I thought...

The Morinth Romance was the only way to kill Shepard in the story. Am I to understand that Shepard can also die from other circumstances in the suicide mission?

I'm pretty sure if you don't get the ship upgrades and don't have loyal crewmembers (and possibly if you don't recruit Thane and Samara but go directly for the IFF) then Shephard dies.

Question...

I'm playing on insanity right now and want to try and get through it as quick as possible. Do I have to do all the random space missions and side quests or can I just do the Recruiting and Loyalty missions? I'm assuming that as long as I get Loyalty from everyone that I can carry on with the game and get the No one left behind achievement, right?

When I played Insanity, I rushed through it as well. You HAVE to recruit everybody and I only did 2 loyalty missions (because there was nothing else to do at the time [had to wait to get the IFF mission]). I did the miranda and jacob loyalty, that's all I needed to get the IFF mission. I think you have to do a set requirement of missions before you can go through the Omega 4. I tried to do no loyalty missions, but it wouldn't let me. BTW, if you're rushing don't upgrade the ship, it's a waste

Well if you rush, and don't fully upgrade your ship, I think it's virtually impossible to get the No one Left behind achievement. Someone is going to die.

I'm going to start insane tomorrow - and I'm doing it all again. Well not all the insignificant side missions - but definitely all the loyalty ones. I can't have anyone on my crew die. :lol

Yep, if all of your crew dies - Shephard dies. When he's running toward the Normandy at the end, right before the Collector base is going to explode, the only person there to catch him when he makes that big jump is Joker - and with Joker's brittle bones, he can't hold on and pull Shephard up. Shephard tells him to make sure everyone knows what happened - to tell the story...and then he falls...the Normandy zooms off and the base explodes. You can watch it on youtube.I'm not sure though what this person did to get all his crew to die...I guess no loyalty, no ship upgrades and not recruiting everyone. :dunno

I read that if you do enough of the little side missions it will also unlock the IFF mission - and therefore you would not have to do any loyalty missions - but you have to do several of them...5 or 6, I think. I would just like to add that the IFF mission is the one I am dreading the most. I hate that mission.

I want to get the No One Left Behind, so I have to do the Loyalty missions. As far as the ship upgrades, I've read that if you don't have them one of your crew will die for sure.

I already have two of the three important ship upgrades and that was before recruiting grunt. I think you get the shields (or armor) once Tali joins. I think once I get that and loyalty I should be good, just need to get Paragon high enough to keep Jack loyal this time. She was the only one that died on me. :(

What's the rush ? I'm on my second play through and have created another profile on ME1 that I am now continuing on ME2....
I love every second of this game... I almost feel bad completing it when I do...

Wow, that sounds.. horrible. Maybe I'll try doing that, just so I can see it happen. I assume the Insanity achievement will still get unlocked if Shepard dies... if not, that would be extra-horrible. :lol

True, you should just reload a NORMAL playthrough and try to get No One Left Behind, it's a LOT easier than trying to get it on Insane.

To get Shepard killed, you need to get everyone on your squad killed. That means don't do loyalty missions, pick wrong people for the specialists, leave non-loyal people to hold the last door, bring non-loyal people to the Reaper fight (non-loyal squadmates die after that fight).

Man, I'm playing the difficulty below Insanity (is it Hardcore?) and I'm dying left and right. I definitely need the gameplay experience at this difficulty, because I don't think I'd be able to handle Insanity right now. :banghead

There are ways to keep her alive, even if she is no longer loyal. Don't have Miranda head any fire teams and don't send her out on her own (i.e. take the crew back to the ship or have her on your team at the very end.) She died during my second playthrough. I redid the final mission about 5 or 6 times to figure out a way to keep her alive. I suggest picking Garrus for your fire teams every time.

Is this post referring to keeping Jack alive or Miranda? Jack was the only one that died on me 'cause I lost her loyalty. You're saying that I can keep her alive regardless?

Yes you can keep Jack alive - even if she is not loyal. :) But she will die if you have Miranda head the fire teams - because Jack does not want to take orders from a Cerberus cheerleader. Just don't do anything with Jack or Miranda - and they will both live. Have Garrus head your fire teams and take other members besides Garrus/Miranda/Jack with you on the last part where you bring down the reaper. Have someone like Tali take the crew back to the ship. That's what I did and everyone lived.

Getting ready to start insane......ahhhhh!! Think I'm going to pick Infiltrator this time - instead of soldier....gotta have my snipe. :D

I might be screwed on insane. I just played veteran thinking that next was insane.....but there is hardcore then insane. Screw it - I'm just going straight to insane.
