See the reason I think it would fail is because of the production of a mass market line. I dont think paint would be as consistent, I think quality control would slip a little. As an online only line Matty has complete control over the line. Would I love this to be at retail? Sure. Would it be the same line? Doubtful.q

that is a good point...I prefer ordering from home vs wasting gas driving around hunting for toys (those days long gone)

Actually yes... it would die...
when the 200x line was released, it was one of the biggest lines amongst collectors, but it was geared towards the mass market, hence you could find it everywhere, and it failed miserably... due to many reasons... but collector's demands will never be enough for MOTU to guarantee a retail release... until the movie comes out...

isnt the reason the 200x stuff died was because of mattels stupidity packing 5 he-mans to one man at arms in a case? or 5 skeletors and 1 beast man? (cluttering the shelves)
then the repaints came along! then the typical poor mattel distribution! the line lasted 2+ at retail...I dont see it as a failure really, it failed because of the few reasons listed above. I see the He-Man classics lasting longer than the 200x series

Yeah, I could never find anything other than He-man and Skeletor variants. I ended up getting many of my figures off ebay for just that reason.

I say it's nice to have it exclusively on mattycollector.com site.. It's nice of a change to not have to go hunting at retail and standing outside of the doors of a target, walmart or TRU at the early morning. I'm glad they are doing it this way.

Mattel often gets blamed for case pack outs and distribution, when these problems are usually the retailer's fault. Retailers get to demand certain things, often sinking (or helping) a line. Mattel didn't want to do this as a retail line because they knew it would fail, because retailers would make the same sort of demands they made with the 200x line, and Mattel would have far less control then they do now in making what they want, how they want. It was a smart move on their part to due a collector's aimed line direct, rather than through mass market.

Yes I agree, it's much nicer and much more convenient than goin hunting at stores... Basically had to do that with my GI JOE Anni... line

I applaud Mattel for this..

But I like the Classics better, that's for sure!!!

I think most of the sculpts were good, but the paint was often garish, the action features were distracting and the articulation was poor.

I never did like (or buy) the redesigned He-man, but some of the others will be hard to beat IMO. For example, I doubt there will be a better version of Orco, and I loved Man-at-Arms new armor with the giant shoulder.

The Classics figures has much better articulation and paint jobs, but I really prefer the 200X look for many of the sculpts.

the 2002 stuff wasnt that bad! it was cool for its time! the 200x series really should of been made like the MOTU Classics :)

He-Ro for the SDCC exclusive then? i'll take one. it'll compliment the King Grayskull figure nicely. hopefully he has some special accessory or a cool box like King Grayskull had. hope he ain't too hard to get.

I hope the He-ro figure is a joke.:( I wouldn't look forward to getting him, but I'll probably get it anyway.

Very good point. The trip to the store and back to get the figures would cost several $$$ and would more than make up for the shipping cost. I like the convenience of ordering the figures from home and just waiting for them to arrive at my door.
