I was just viewing some fan pics of Vultak over at He-Man.borg, and his armor looks like crap around the collar bone area. His ankles look terrible too since they went with that ridiculous ankle articulation they're using on the Filiation figures. I'm thinking about passing on this one.

I just hope Darius looks good and doesn't have these stupid ankle joints.

I don't think the line is being produced in the low numbers they want us to believe. For a while they were adding SKU after SKU after SKU. You don't make vehicles and playlets for a line that is "niche". I think that's all BS to make it sound like this line is going to be so valuable someday. Like I said, I think this is just like a retail line, only without the retail. Instead of TRU or any other major department store, they sell most of their bulk to businesses like BBTS. Then you have the eBay scalpers, then collectors who buy multiple subs to flip for profit, then finally the regular collector who actually likes the figures and wants to own them. I disagree and feel most of the scalpers are non fans who see this line as an opportunity to make profit... kinda like Val. :) Also, I do believe in time MOTUC products being sold by eBay scalpers will eventually be priced to sell. It may take 10 years, but it will happen. I think anyone who is new to the line and wants to collect them all should wait until then if they want them cheap as possible.

This line isn't even remotely like a retail line. Bbts doesn't order massive amounts of these. I would be very surprised if they had over a hundred of any of them. Motu is not a popular property. Despite how much some of us wish otherwise.

Yep!
But even with the low numbers, there's a steady amount of people that keep buying them and keeping the line alive, even if just barely enough... Otherwise Mattel would've killed it years ago like they did with Ghostbusters or DC
and after so many years with the sub format, people should know the drill by now...
Obviously things are slowly winding down, I'm not sure a FILMATION line would have the legs to go beyond the core characters and some variants here and there... And I guess we'll learn next month what some of the plans might be for 2017...
I'm happy we've gotten such a robust and diverse line so far! Anything else from now on is just cherry on top IMO!

You people are obsessed with numbers. All I'm saying is it's treated like a retail line. I'm well aware the production numbers are nothing like Barbie, etc. Still, The numbers aren't as low as people think with all the SKU's and what... a second play set on the way? You don't have 8 years of tooling and counting for a "niche" line. I don't care what his highness Scott Neitlich says. Off course they're going to say it's a small line, it's all part of the artificial scarcity which clearly makes people think they're sitting on a gold mine.

Personally the line will feel incomplete if they never finish NA. Its roughly 10 figures missing, so I am really hoping for a Minisub in 2017. but to be honest I habenot the highest hopes.

Well, yeah... NA got the short end of the stick... Despite having some of the coolest figures in the line so far...
I'm glad we're at least getting Tuskador... I'm not sure they'll complete the line but a few more crucial characters need to be produced for sure...

I don't think prices will drop much on the rare and in demand figures. Another MOTU line doesn't seem to be on the horizon after this one is finished, so the only place people can go for figures is vintage, 200X, or Classics. If Mattel is not going to re-release older figures any more then Beast Man, Teela, Whiplash, Fisto, Sorceress, Ram Man, Kobra Khan, Shadow Weaver, Granamyr, Swift Wind, etc. are probably not going down in price any time soon. It's not like the value of old figures going up over time is a rare occurrence. This happens all the time, even with modern toy lines.

There's always going to be holy grail figures. MOTUC is a HUGE line with 8 years worth of figures. They all can't stay priced high forever.

While that might be true, I think there are a dozen or so figures that are going to remain pretty high, such as Beast Man, Fisto, Shadow Weaver, Whiplash, Sorceress, etc. Of course if they re-release any of those the prices will drop.

Yeah, I always thought that was disingenuous. Of course everything on Matty was a drop in the bucket compared to some of their lines, but there is more in value to the line than just the revenue. First off I imagine the lines had a better profit margin that most of their retail lines and didn't have a lot of issues with running a retail line. More importantly keeping figures out keeps MOTU in the minds of a lot of people and if you want to expand to movies it is important to keep MOTU as a running product even if you are only reaching the more hardcore fans. And were still talking probably 5 million plus in revenue a year which even a big company doesn't want to walk away from.

Considering this is the most detailed and greatest MOTU toy line ever made.As long as there is a collector's market, which seems not to be going anywhere,
these figures will remain desired. Until a newer and better line than what we already got comes along, the CORE figures will be desired.

I honestly believe this is the LAST time we'll ever see a MOTU "Classics" line. The next "tech and video game" generation will care less

That's what I'm afraid of. All of us that were born in the 80s-90s will die and no one will be left to appreciate the cartoon and toys we experienced. The result is our prized possessions will be worthless. :(

If some figures seem rare now, It might have something to do with several subscribers not receiving their Fisto, Sorceress, and Shadow Weaver figures because they were given away for free from Mattel to other subscribers, with the end result being some people ended up with two of those figures, I'm sure we all remember that fiasco, or at least those of us who don't revise history. There are a few figures that aren't limited in supply but instead are being hoarded by people who again... think they are sitting on a gold mine. Beast Man and Whiplash? That may be hard to find now but I don't see why they would have been produced in smaller numbers than all the other figures. In the end, these things will be worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them. I wouldn't be surprised if Mattel still had boxes and boxes of these so called rare figures lost in some warehouse, just waiting to be found. Oh wait... that concept is only used as BS from matty when a figure like Teela suddenly shows up on their sale page.

Except regardless of the found Teela figures in the Matty warehouse years later they still sold out within mere minutes and the price for a carded version on eBay is still $100+. I can tell you nobody is hoarding these figures when they are selling for such high prices on eBay. The reason prices have gone up and stayed up is because most of them have found their way into collectors hands and supply is limited. Nobody is artificially inflating the prices as long as there are buyers willing to pay the current market rates.

Dude, Zodach... No! You're making too much sense!!
It's all an evil plot by that fiend Matty to screw up the fans and make their lives miserable!!
*sarcasm*

In all seriousness,
I mean, Matty can barely deal with the orders via Digital River or manage their QC, so the fact that some people believe in this "Fake Scarcity" plot is hilarious!!

I know right. It's a good thing there are smart people like you to steer us simpletons in the right direction. :/

Vultak is here!!!
What a kick ass figure!!!
Unlike Filmation He-Man, the ankle articulation doesn't bother me as much here. Maybe because the texture sort of hides it a bit...
Overall, excellent figure!!
My only gripes, the "whip/leash" could've been a bit better... And the attachment for the articulation of the wings is a bit bulky, but other than that, awesome figure!!
