Mattel: DC Universe Classics

HALLELUJAH!

After 2 full weeks and 1 day of searching, my hunt finally comes to a close!

I rounded the corner of the toy area and there were the pallets. The first one was shrink-wrapped and full of "DOLLS". The next one was practically cleared already. But there, lying on its side was a glorious box with a Mattel logo in the upper left hand corner. Below it, ACTION FIGURES. And below that DC Universe Classics Figures!!! I snatch it up and walk over to a different part of the store to open it (I felt like my dog after I give him a treat). I pull out my trusty pocket knife and there they were. The elusive Imperiex wave!!! I ran to the check out, paid, and left without looking back.

For further info. This Wal-mart supposedly did get series 5, but I didn't ever see them there. They had 2 Captain Colds a week and a half ago until I transported them to another wal-mart. So this wal-mart was totally empty of DCUC. They also did not ever get the 5 pack (that I know of). I hope that helps others find these. While I can't say 100% sure it works, clearing your Wal-mart's pegs did seem to do the trick here. But if the 2 week order rule is true, then these must have already been on order.

Hey BM! My brother and I got ours today too!!!! Didn't find it ourselves but a buddy of mine did and he loaded em in the mail this past Saturday and they arrived today! This is an awesome wave!

mother ^^^^. I have to find these guys. I went to 4 different Wal-Marts this past Saturday to no avail. Apparently the warehouse that supplies the Wal-Marts in Northern Illinois has no DCUC figures on hand at all.

The hunt continues.

Lucky buggers!!! Congrats on the finds! Checked all four of my wal-marts this weekend (and the closest one again last night) and NOTHING. I just want 2 Jokers (one for my girl) and a black Bats (also for the girlfriend) and MAYBE Man-Bat. I think I can wait for Power Girl as a "Best Of" seeing as how I need Terrific, Wildcat and three Atom Smasher pieces to round out my JSA, anyhow.

Last week, I review the first half of DC Universe Classics wave 9, and tonight I'm wrapping up the set with a look at Wildcat, Black Adam, Guardian, Deadshot and the big guy, Chemo. For me, Deadshot is the big surprise, as I wasn't expecting him to be one of my favorites.

There's also a guest review from Ryan Kelly, who's looking at the Mattel 12" Joker. You'll remember I checked this guy out awhile back, but my version onlly came with the playing card. Ryan is looking at the one that comes with the knife, a much more interesting accessory.

Man, I went to two walmarts and a target near me. The walmarts had absolutely no dcuc. THe target had a few earlier waves...three wonderwoman's were the only ones that appealed to me, but still a pass.

So I went home and saw this on the kitchen table:

WOO HOO!!!

My mom went to the Walmart 2 miles away and saw them just sitting on the shelf.

You're kidding right? DCUC have been HOT for over a year. Because this wave is an exclusive, makes even more in demand.

Star Wars isn't as scarce as it once was. I find Star Wars exclusives all the time but trying to find a Mattel exclusive is next to impossible.

I've finally gotten around to opening the wal-mart wave. Joker is my favorite figure in the entire line so far. Just pure awesomeness. Best comic Joker in any scale EVER!

Manbat is also good. I have the Albino one already so nothing really new here. I do like the translucent wings though. That was a nice touch.

Robotman is a nice figure. The brain was a nice touch. His coloring really stands out on the shelf. I kind of wish I had gotten the Gold Captain Atom so I could have Gold, Silver, and Bronze with him and the two Captain Atoms.

Imperiex is a very impressive C&C figure. He is big and the paint is nice and clean. I don't know anything other than he is supposed to be the Galactus of DC, but he is an awesome figure regardless of my lack of knowledge.

I spent over 2 weeks searching for this wave every night and I was worth it. If you really want this wave, go pallet diving around 10PM every night until you get them. And if possible, empty your wal-mart's DCUC pegs ahead of time and return them later/at a different wal-mart. It will force them to order more, thus their exclusive wave. It worked for me, but I know some places have over 20 figures at that just isn't possible to do.

I still can't believe that Mattel decided to include the brown Man-Bat, Powergirl, AND the Joker as exclusives.



I agree the Joker is awesome but Forager is my favorite from this wave. I'm a die hard "old school" Forth World fan so just the fact that I actually own a Forager figure is awesome.


I don't think there is a bad figure in this whole wave. All 7 are great. The Batman repaint I could live without but the others are all outstanding!!

I hate Mattel for this whole wave 10 crap, wanted Joker and Powergirl at a minimum for my collection. Beastboy and ManBat would be great but I will never see these figures here Canada gets screwed bad enough as it is with this whole line, I have 1 Wal Mart near me they stocked wave 1 of DCUC and never anything more. Oh well guess that's what I get for having any faith in Mattel and the distribution of this wave and it being somehow obtainable for reasonable prices. Congratulations to those who are lucky enough to find wave 10 at retail. Glad there are some people out there aside from damn scalpers finding these things.
