And I take it you don't actually own a business and pay payroll taxes, supply health insurance, etc.

I do in fact own a business. Not all business owners are driven by greed, and we don't all start firing employees just because our tax obligation rises. A significant number of business pay no taxes anyway. Time to step up.

The death and the estate tax are the dumbest taxes ever imposed on the American public.

The estate tax is the most brilliant tax possible, because it doesn't affect anyone alive.

I have to agree. She layed it all on the table. Obama just gave promises.

Please. They both just gave promises. That's what these speeches are for. In fact it's impossible to do anything but give promises because they're not in office yet.

Well, I was verbally accosted by a group of people who opposed the war. They saw that I was military and wanted to tell me how they felt. It actually got a bit heated and I had to walk away or I probably would have been attacked, even though I agreed with them.

My friend you were mistreated. It has nothing to do with what you stand for. You were confronted by ignorance. It happens. Look at the hill billys that were trying to do something to Obama. It happens. You can't expect everyone to get it. You just need to be confident enough in your own actions.

I would just like anyone I mean ANYONE to tell me just how bad the past 8 years for them were and how they lay direct blame on the president.

It's all right. I wasn't using my civil liberties anyway.

Just a silly question among all the wisdom here.....
Just how much of an impact does a vice president really have? Really? Even the most publically active vice president we've had in the past 40 years (LBJ in leading the space race as well as his enormous clout in Congress. Cheney is very active as well, but that's another issue and thread) was only the point man for the President. Most of the time, the VP is used as the mouthpiece for the President to espouse potentially unpopular plans and issues and take the licking from the press and the public.

Bottom line: the VP has only one real job - as backup in the event of a death or incapacitation of the President. Ever since Nixon and his little hound Spiro Agnew, I've looked at the VP nominees as close as the Presidential nominees and vote accordingly. Do I see Palin as a potential President? No way in hell.

I enjoyed her take on Obama's lack of experience, "community organizer."

:lol:rotfl:lol

I agree... It really had nothing to do with me, but it just shows how crazy it's made people. I'm not anti-war or anything... Like you I think that we should have just gone after Bin Laden and made that our focus.

And as for future war, sometimes it's needed and unavoidable.

My primary concerns in our future are the economy, improving the infrastructure of our country, and energy...without damaging our fragile environment.. hence.. no extensive drilling.

I like a candidate with less than two years of state level experience mocking a sitting US senator's experience. :rotfl

I think we need to hang that ass from a noose and I am not affraid to say it. LOL! Bottom line, no one deserves to give a service member shat unless they are one. If you don't know than STFU IMO. :rock

I think we saw the next VP tonight---very good speaker--mentioned Ebay--should have said something about Sideshow..

Even if Cheney hadn't radically expanded the role of vice president, I'd suggest this is a red herring. McCain is 72 years old and has endured four battles with cancer. Anyone thinking of voting McCain/Palin without seriously considering Palin as president needs their head examined.

I'd hit it.

Is that a real photo? I can never tell the real from the Photoshopped anymore...

I agree... And I will go one step further and say that any true "on the ground" COMBAT soldier should never be mistreated... even more so than us support guys. They dodged bullets and dove on grenades, they deserve a million times more respect... at least IMO.

Examples please. Just how has it changed your life? Please I really want to know.

Are you really asking me how the elimination of habeas corpus and unrestricted domestic spying has impacted my life? I don't even know how to take that question seriously.

I played GEARS tonight and sucked ass!!!! Were you at!!!

You already made your mind up, so it's all rhetoric with you anyway...

Not fair, and not true. I went into tonight's speech with curiosity, and an open mind. I even ignored any and all press coverage of her. So, prior to her speech, I knew nothing about her whatsoever. Just as you know nothing about me whatsoever. So if, just like your candidate, the best you can do is to resort to insults and innuendo, I suggest you bow out of the discussion immediately in favor of those who think before they open their mouths/type with their fingers.

And when I speak of rhetoric, I speak of "Language that is elaborate, pretentious, insincere, or intellectually vacuous," which is the feeling that I got from everything I heard tonight.

If this VP candidate wants to win me over, it'll take more than an evening of bashing an opponent to do it. I heard nothing, nothing, of anything that might indicate some broad plan to make everything better for this country. Just some more of the same, "Look what our party has done!" Which, to me, isn't something to be bragging about.

I don't care who you are. Support or not. If you are military you deserve respect and a voice. No one is better than anyone else.

Also, due to our economy... I have been unable to find work for half a year at anything over minimum wage.... My bills are higher, even though I am conserving energy... and I have to watch as every paycheck gets tighter and tighter and my Wife gets more and more stressed...

I know it's not Bush personally, but rather what his Presidency has cost us.
Just wait if Obama becomes president and his tax hikes hit the top 5 percent. They will be outsourcing jobs left and right to offset the hike. Add in the 800 billion he has earmarked for the anti-poverty act and nationwide healthcare, times are really going to get interesting then. You people also need to realize that the US has been dealing with terrorist since the 70's. You people are crazy if you think Al-Qeda planned 9/11 in the short months from the time George Bush took office. The planning for it must have started, oh I would guess after the first attempt at the Twin Towers during Clintons presidency. Anyone care to guess who was president during the Iranian hostage situation. Ol Jimmy Carter, he was probably our most liberal president up until that time. Wonder what he did to outrage the radical Islamist to make them do that.

Best line of the night:
"Some people use change to promote their careers. Some people use their careers to promote change."

Oh, and I'll take her executive experience anyday over Obama sitting in the Senate and voting "present".
