Well, there were a lot floating around of Obama that were totally photoshopped too, but have a ton of Repubs fooled. Sorry, just wondering, as I have seen photos of her posing beside dead, bloody animals and sitting on a couch made out of a bear, complete with head intact. Which to me is almost as hideous as this one, and probably real.

I'm in no way an anti-gunner. I'd never have one in my house, but that's a personal choice. Guns have their place, and many people love to hunt. That's fine, I just wish they'd keep their bloody kills out of my line of site. Hunting for food is one thing, hunting for sport is another. I'm all for the 2nd amendment, but wish it was a tiny bit harder to buy a gun - better background checks, etc.

Mostly I'm anti making guns 'cool'.

Not fair, and not true. I went into tonight's speech with curiosity, and an open mind. I even ignored any and all press coverage of her. So, prior to her speech, I knew nothing about her whatsoever. Just as you know nothing about me whatsoever. So if, just like your candidate, the best you can do is to resort to insults and innuendo, I suggest you bow out of the discussion immediately in favor of those who think before they open their mouths/type with their fingers.

And when I speak of rhetoric, I speak of "Language that is elaborate, pretentious, insincere, or intellectually vacuous," which is the feeling that I got from everything I heard tonight.

If this VP candidate wants to win me over, it'll take more than an evening of bashing an opponent to do it. I heard nothing, nothing, of anything that might indicate some broad plan to make everything better for this country. Just some more of the same, "Look what our party has done!" Which, to me, isn't something to be bragging about.

You are correct. I don't know you and I only know what you say. But what you are saying doesn't correlate with what was being spoken. She didn't just bash an opponent, something both sides are guilty of, but she also laid out ideas about energy independence, and how to go about accomplishing that goal. She listed her accomplishments, ie qualifications. What exactly were you expecting? By your qualifications, nothing anyone can say could sway you.

I don't think they would either... But I guarantee that if I walked up to a group of conservatives, they would no doubt instantly judge me by my tattoos, facial hair, dress and scars... and would probably treat me like a criminal if they didn't know I was a vet.

Are you really asking me how the elimination of habeas corpus and unrestricted domestic spying has impacted my life? I don't even know how to take that question seriously.

Or maybe you just can't come up with an example. If they phone tap a mosque down the road from my house and pick up on a terrorist act that may have killed hundreds, great. You actually think this is the first time the govt. has spied on people. You don't think the govt. has held people without due process before. What about the internment camps in WWII, the socalled "popular" war.

Indeed I have. I've been judged by teachers, coworkers, bosses, my Wife's family and pretty much everyone else. I like to think of myself as a Sheep in Wolves clothing.

I just think we judge people too much in this country... That just because someone looks a certain way that they must be this and that...

And as far as being "Liberal" I just believe that our rights as citizens should be preserved. Including speech, control of our bodies, assembly and press.... I think that freedoms shouldn't be cut or altered to "make things safe"...

Usually that just makes enemies of the people.

I think it's great that she's a hunter and lifelong member on the NRA even though I am a member of PETA. People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.

If it makes you feel any better some hunts are govt sanctioned to thin herds so they dont die of starvation during particularly tough winters.
Most biologists will tell you death by starvation is much more painful and drawn out than a bullet or arrow death

If you're gonna be clever, please do so with facts? Even though they were itching to since they knew that it was the U.S. shoring up the Brits/Commonwealth as well as the Allies thru the Lend-Lease Act, you're right -- Germany didn't attack us. But Japan did and they were allies with Germany (along with Italy in the Axis). So when we declared war on Japan because of Pearl Harbor, Germany gleefully came to Japan's "aid" and declared war on us.

This is where assumptions and 'us VS them' mentalities gets really dangerous though - when one assumes all people who vote a certain way are extremists. Example - it's bad to assume all Republicans are Christian extremists who commit hideous crimes against gay people, even though those people who do commit those crimes (both verbal and physical) that fall into that category.

It's like an SAT question: if this is true (a soldier is spit on in a time of passion and war) than you can assume it's probably a 'leftie' who did it... but you CANNOT assume that all people who lean to the left would do that or agree with that or wouldn't hesitate to take the piss out of someone they saw doing that, no matter which way they vote.

I see WAY too many people making those backwards assumptions these days, and it scares me.

I guess those mean, angry conservatives just aren't that mean and angry.
