I'm not a terrorist, I don't own any form of false identification, and I don't hang out in mosques.

Looks like I won't be forfeiting any rights.

are you defending the loss of major portions of the Bill of Rights? are you saying, the loss of Habeas Corpus doesn't affect you, so it isn't important?

It's obviously not a clean-cut loss of Habeas Corpus for all US citizens.

The media hype-machine has trained you well young one....

its obvious that you need information... you need to educate yourself.

I want to applaud Darklord Dave for keeping these threads alive. I know some are concerned about personal attacks, but compared to other virtual environments I visit, everybody here seems pretty grounded by the fact that in the end, we're a bunch of people who like dolls. Did I really just say that?

As for Gov. Palin -- shoutout to Gideon: nobody seems to have responded to your post, but I just emailed it to my wife at her work -- I've been fixed on what will strike some as a minor quibble, but I think it's revealing. The Governor got a cheap laugh by referring to the set for the Democratic convention being broken down and shipped back to a studio in Hollywood.

This struck me, because she was standing on a set designed by a three-time Hollywood Emmy winner, who also designed the set for the Republican convention four years ago (the one with the balloons). I know him. He was the art director for "Friends" and its spin-off, "Joey," and has designed sets for the American Music Awards, the Independent Spirit Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the Emmys. He sits on the Board of Governors of the Television Academy.

Now, I'm sure the Democratic convention also had a set designed by someone in Hollywood. I mean, if you were producing an event of this magnitude, wouldn't you want the best talent with the most experience, so you could be assured your set would work as planned?

But when she cracked that joke, I thought to myself, that's really hypocritical. And then I thought, no that's pandering -- appealing to the worst in people; their need to hold themselves above someone else and look down on someone, and tell themselves they're superior.

I agree with Gideon. I instinctively dislike and distrust this woman, though I find the other three main players worthy of serious attention.

Incidentally, on the matter of Palin's daughter, Obama said that he would fire anyone in his campaign found to have any role in fanning these fires, stating firmly that families and especially children should be off limits, and adding, "My mother was eighteen when she had me." Palin's daughter will probably be eighteen when she gives birth.

Isn't that what we have been doing? Why not drill and put limitations on where the oil can be used? Palin showed that the oil companies can be dealt with. Sure drilling won't have much of an impact on the short term but it will certainly help, at least until we can get these new energy sources up and running.

Both parties have a long way to go on energy reform. Both have no plans to ditch ethanol, which is a ludicrous waste of corn needed as food. But the farm lobbies are too strong I guess.

I'd say that liquified natural gas and nuclear are ways to go - but it takes 10 years to get a nuclear power plant built and there's just as much resistance there as there is for drilling offshore or in ANWR.

I'm actually more in sync with the Republicans on this than the Democrats.

Everything he said about Obama also applies to McCain.

Palin has run a state government of 15,000 for 20 months. Obama has run a democratic presidential campaign supervising many thousands of people for 7 years.

You don't run your own campaign. You hire someone else to do it. Carl Rove ran Bush's campaign and Carvale ran Clinton's campaign. I am certain that he is not running his own campaign, although, he may not own up to it at this point. That's not a qualification for presidential leadership. Is that the best that he can offer? Where is the responsibility and who does he directly affect? To whom does he answer to?

He answers to the Democratic party.

And again - the same questions you ask - also apply to McCain.

it takes more energy to produce ethanol that it actually produces...ethanol is not the way to go for sure.

I can agree with you on this. McCain and Obama do share about the same amount of executive leadership. However, answering to a party does not make you qualified on that account alone. The truth is that we really don't know how Obama will run his presidency because he doesn't have much of a voting record. McCain, I do believe, can run things can get us back on track. However, I must admit that I have reservations on this. Personally, I am strict Libertarian in my beliefs. Unfortunately, neither candidate really represents me.

If that wasn't an answer you probably will be searching for one for a very long time. Although I'll trade you my "not an answer" for this "response".

Done and done. :D

I do like your new tag-line though. You should make it your sig so you wouldn't have to type it so much. :naughty
