I've had the ROTJ Vader for a couple of weeks now and think its fantastic, the 3 part removable helmet is very well done though the top part can be a bit prone to falling off if you are not careful. I've not yet added any extenders but will be using the ones from the Jedi Luke I won on ebay a couple of days ago and a second set if needed whenever I can get my hands on another RAH body. The figure already looks great but the extra height should be the icing on the cake.

I'll prolly glue the panel box to his chest, but the harness is film-accurate as Mikey has said in another thread...

Yep. Vader wore a harness for the chest box in all of the OT. ROTS is the first time he didn't.

Which begs the question: Just what kind of "continuity department" did EP3 have anyway?

ROTJ Vader it is then. Have to say that's the one I really wanted to go with as I too am an OT snob..... plus the OCD will feel better having ROTJ Vader posed with 2 stormies and Boba (when he arrives). And what is this about the emporer coming??? Is that confirmed????

Please... :lol Like it won't happen this year. :lol

Just kidding, it's an educated guess...

I've been getting outbid on Medicom Vader for months now. So, I finally see one with a sweet buy-it-now price. So I look at it a minute or two, trying to see if my eyes are really seeing what I think they are seeing....then, I click to "buy it now" and realize that some evil Sithlord has already "bought it now".

So, I bow to my new master Darth Pjam :rotfl :emperor

Congrats man, I'm glad you are the one who got it & have some cool plans for it. I'll be going back on the hunt :maul

I said I just picked one up :lol :emperor :vader

You'll get one die, I've seen some go for 100 but with $50 shipping fees, just be vigilant. I wanted this one because it was so close... Actually, I asked the Seller if he would ship it for free with BIN and he obliged, already on it's way! 120 shipped!

Alright, so I'm a huge fan of the Medi Vader (I've got the ROTJ version), but as much as I love it, I started thinking what SST could do to top it.
I posted about this once over at the RS forums, but maybe you guys come up with other ideas on what SST could do to improve upon Medi Vader.

1. Height/Scale. Obviously, SST's will be more in scale to other 1/6 scale figures in general.
2. Proportions. Medi Vader is a stylized figure. He's way too lithe (sp?) and the helmet is way too small. Looks great, but not exactly like the hulking apparition that was Vader.
3. Materials. How about some metal? Some pleather for the gloves? Incidentally, what material were Vader's belt and crotch-guard?
4. Actual dark lenses for the eyes.

Those are a couple of things that spring to mind.

I'm afraid that by the time SSC gets around to actually figuring out how to produce armored figures (assuming they also upgrade the crappy base body as well) what you mentioned would run about... hmm... $1,000,000.00

:monkey1

i have the ROTS version. like him alot. i hope u guys get the extenders to work. i have mine stnading on tip toes inside his boots and it's not the greatest solution. he's only a tiny bit taller than SS Luke and now his legs looks too long:confused:

LOL. I doubt if and when SS finally reveals their Stormtroopers and Fetts, they would be over $100. Vader might tip the $100 mark, maybe $120 tops.

To be honest, the formula in making Stormtrooper is already there, for 7 years!
Marmits were released back in 99 and the best thing, they went for $80 for Stormie and $100 for Fett Retail. Marmit Vader did not make it to the shelves tho. My guess is, it was way to expensive to make and i guess they made a feasible study and found that the manufacturing cost and liscensing fees was too much Marmit could handle. I;m guessing the MArmit Vader, if ever to be released at the time in 2002, would probably cost $250 due to the sheer size of the beauty. I guess theat's the reason why Marmit stopped making the SW figures, they were too expensive and at the time, there wasnt enough buyers(esp most of the buyers are from US and it's an imported item)

What I'm saying is that if Sideshow want to, they could release a Stormie by now but maybe trying to bring down the cost of the figures.
So be patient guys, Sideshow will eventually release their own rendition of Troopers and Fetts.

BUT it's not I'm saying forget the Medi Fett, cos that SUcka's a beaut.

For PJAM, I'm a little busy today, I'll post some pics and make mini tutorial for extending the Medi Vader for you tomorrow.

Thanks guys!

If I can get this guy like 12.5 inches, he'll kill... now SSC Jedi Luke has a Daddy! Did you see the sculpt and paint apps detail, scars, etc, on this guy? Truly a work of art. And a SSC Emperor will complete the final battle scene, boy I wish SSC does an environment for this... too cool! :D

I sure hope his shoulder joints can hold the Emperor over his head!!!

I'm not sure how tall is my Vader(it's in my individual glass display now) but Dooku is measuring about 305 cm which is about 12.2 inches tall. Vader is slightly taller and I reckon he's about 315 cm which is about 12.6 inches.

And congrats on scoring on the Medi ROTJ Vader. That is one masterpiece.

I agree that Vader, does look a little lanky after the extensions but it still looks great. Cmon name me a 2m or 6'.7" guy who isnt lanky:lol

Here's pics of Vader in action poses after extensions.

Thanks Scarlet, tough to beat this one @ 12.6 " tall!

Yours looks awesome, 12.6 is perfect! Looking forward to your tutorial!

Scarlet: the answer to your question is...David Prowse, who, at the time of filming ANH was 6'7" and anything BUT lanky. I first met him at Chiller Theatre in '92, before his knee and hip problems had taken their toll on him, and he was in excellent shape. "Lanky" is not a word I would use to describe him. Very pleasant fellow to talk to...

I have the ROTJ version, and have not felt the need to modify him, partly because of how much he cost, but mostly because I also spent over 2 years creating a custom Vader that is to proper scale(13 1/2 "). The Medi is displayed in an acrylic case in magnificent solitude. My custom, inspired by the Marmit collection(of which I am a very proud owner), has appeared on this board(and others) several times...PS
