Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

The final version differs from the proto in at least the following aspects:
1. The detail on the carbon fiber armour areas is not the same. It is clearly worse, with not as much detail.
2. The chest plate is bigger and therefore less accurate.
3. The head is less wide and therefore less accurate.
4. The face paint is worse
5. The proto had the proper V cut at the back of the cape, the final version does not.
6. The neck on the proto appears better proportioned.

If that is not different, I'm not sure what is.

And notice how nearly all of the above are factors that everyone seems to be customizing on their figures to some extent or the other. If Medi had delivered a final product exactly like their proto, I wouldn't be doing any customizing.

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

Carbon Kevlar all applied, now to trim and tidy up any remaining edges.

  1. Still to enamel the eyes.
  2. Put a darker matte finish on all the hands.
  3. Enamel the glove trims/knuckles/fingertips on all hands that you would normally see on the Hot Toys version and real suit. Medicom missed this little detail.
  4. Fix up the grapple gun and Batarangs bronze them up. Add a bit more realism to them.
  5. After the first photo shoot, Hot Toys style. Very softly weather up and take the shine out of the carbon kevlar while keeping the kevlar pattern and correct colour tone.

That's what I'm waiting to see. I think it looks way better than it did out of the box now, no doubt. But I'm not feeling how shiny and bright the modified armor areas are now. With less shine.. I think the end result will be jaw dropping.

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

He looks fantastic, a million times better! I think the neck is a bit on the skinny side on the Medi though. Especially when people pack the head out, which is totally unneeded imho. Takes it out of proportion a teeny tiny bit

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

Yeah thats true about the neck, though it was quite thin before I filled it with foam. The rubber or whatever the sleeve is made out of could move from side to side or you could pinch it quite a bit. There is hardly any leeway after it is packed. It's more like a sponge. I do agree though it's just a smidge off. Hopefully Hot Toys can improve on that.

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

Nah, it's Magnuz's, his is out of the box

Actually no, mine was customized, like many others, i took no pics of him out of the box, all my pics are post modification. He got his abs flattened and restuffed, along with a reworking of the padding in his hips and butt, repaint of the face, and a new cape.

The figure is not that close to the prototype out of box, but its hard to expect that of any figure, prototypes are meant to be the basis of what they try to replicate in mass market, some do better than others, medi's just wasn't as good as it was in proto, but it's still good.

Re: HT The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

OMG it's the REAL Batman toy!! Medicom should have included that extra head

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

Testing out the weathering process... and no the face tone hasn't been altered just in case somebody asks. I had the chrome mode on.

Can't wait to get this into the light tent once this is completed.
