It IS Hasbro-like quality compared to Medi's.
Dude, don't be silly. You are directly comparing two photos taken in completely different lighting and circumstances. I can pretty much GUARANTEE you that the Medi version would look just as toy-like if taken in the same light as the SSC one on Rebelscum.

The boots still look a bit clunky to me

I agree. Why can't anyone make non-clunky Maul boots??? :monkey2

What would I suspect from swinging from Medicom tree.

Man, you guys just can't stand it when something from SS is better. That's all fine and good since it's your right but its your right as I said.

The expression on his face IMO limits the # of poses since his eyes are looking through the top of his eye lids. The likeness is no place close 2 as good as SS and the paint apps look weird on the Medi Maul.

Either way I still like it and plan on ordering the figure. Cause I like Maul and I know Medicom makes a nice product. It will just be the second best 1:6th Maul I've got in my collection.
I'm not swinging, I'm mearly pointing out how SS' Maul quality is nothing compared to Medi's.

LOL.

Medi X3 Wolverine's eyes are painted the same, yet he can do a number of poses looking realistic without the eyes screwing it up, and compared to SS' Maul's blank eyes or cross eyes, he's pretty much better in that department. How does it look awkward compared to SS Maul's, besides it being crisper, cleaner, and the red being accurate to the movie red?

Hey, if you're satisfied thinking that the second best Maul is the best, who am I to stop you? As for us seeing that clearly Medi Maul's paint apps, articulation and expression is the best, we'll probably be a lot happier.

Like I said, this is all in my opinion, so don't go bashing me just cause I don't agree with your's.

At this point if you're claiming that the Medicom Maul is "clearly better" at anything (other than articulation) from these few pics then your bias is obvious and palpable.

I like the medi Maul but I am 100% satisfied with my SS Maul so I won't be spending $150+ on another toy.

That's the dealbreaker for me as well. If it was $50-75, then maybe I'd buy it. But I'd rather save the $150 for other products. After all, who knows what will be unveiled at SDCC...

So THIS is Hasbro quality???

And keep in mind that when I made this for Yodasnews, I adjusted some color levels and cast it in red, and that's all. What you see is basically what we got.

And what about this?

For reference though, here's a true Hasbro quality version...

Can you tell me why he has a blank expression or why his boots look clunky and stupid? Like I said, all in my opinion, but I still think in some of the pics Ive seen him in, he looks stiff. And true about the lighting, though I was over at RS when he was first shipping, and even some of the people who got him complained that the red was a bit too bright in person.

The paint lines on the Medi are nice and crisp

What pictures are you looking at? The black face tattoo's are very unclean and sloppy as much as the Sideshow proto images. I'm sure the final will look good and even this looks good, but clearly not good enough to be able to say they're crisp lines.

Did I see he was better at ANYTHING? No, I just said his expression, paint apps, boots and articulation look better than SS, I didn't mention anything about his clothes yet, because I don't know how good they'll stack up, though the belt might be better if it doesn't go and just glue the buttons on like SS did. That and I do like the sabers that come with Medi better, since I was afraid breaking or losing my SS ones at the time.

Please read my post before attacking me.

I like it, maybe ill buy it and mix the best from both ones (medi+SSc) and see what we get.....

will definitely be getting him. the head sculpt is very nice and the paint job on the face even looks textured. i like the facial expression as well...certainly looks pissed. maul + rah body = yes please! don't get me wrong i still really dig the ss version but i have plenty of shelf space (and love) for another well done maul.

So why is it that the black on the chin isn't spilling little speckles over the red on his chin like SS' is? Or why the eyes aren't cross eyed, or why there isn't alittle red showing where it should be black by the horns?

and the red being accurate to the movie red?

Actually, it's less. Neither Sideshow or Medicom have the red correct, BUT that is of benefit to collectors. The majority of the time you see Maul in TPM, his red is actually a tint of red orange because how the red makeup blended with Ray Park's skin complexion, where all the merchandise goes on the pure red side. However, that's a good things for us collectors because you can't go wrong with a pure red, but the wrong mix of a red-orange could go more orange and really not look right, so we win by them not trying to replicate the film color exactly.

I agree. I'll keep talking about it but I'm done in the whole which is better.

Suppose you're right, MaulFan. I still think the Medi red is darker and looks more like the red he had in the movie than the bright red SS' has, but I'll trust your judgment.

It looks nicer and has some things better, but if you look at the spades on his horns, it doesn't look at all like a crisp line. Is it cleaner than SSC, probably, but it's still not CRISP as you stated and off this proto, that word can't be used to describe the edges, no matter how nice the application is.

They're definitely different, I was just pointing out that neither is what you get on film. I didn't just randomly pick my screen name, I really am quite obsessive with the character and being an artist, have drawn him and studied photos of him more times than I can count.

I'll take your word for it, but I still think it's not as sloppy as SS'(And I have the SS one, which is alright, but I always thought his paintjob wasn't very good), but whatever, like I said, it's just my opinion, whether others read it incorrectly(IrishJedi) or not. I'm not real obsessed with the character, but I still think it looks better than the SS' head, though I'll have to wait to see the clothes in person before I can judge them, since I still like the look of SS clothes, even though I have to keep adjusting them to fit correctly.

If you look at this picture carefully, the spade around the horn and the curve from his temple to the top of his head show signs of rugged edge, and even the line from his eye tat to his cheeks is a littls rough looking, fairly clean, but again, not something that could be called crisp to me.

I sold my "hasbro-like" :lol SSC Maul just to make room for Medicom's Maul :)
