I wouldn't say smoked either, but I do think the Medicom version does a better job of conveying the Maul attitude.

Velvet?!? That's just as bad; it should be a thin linen or some other fabric--reflective and thick is very out of place compared to the actual outfit.

I'm not saying Sideshow is better or worse; I'm saying I like theirs more. Anybody who disagrees is more than welcome; after all, aren't different opinions supposed to be a good thing?

I agree with the Medicom Maul appears better and more detailed overall than SSC's Maul. It's terrific, and that's why I ordered one when I saw it in person at SDCC. But leave the hyperbole at the door... SSC's Maul is hardly Hasbro level.

Like I said, I'll have both. I'll use Medi's to pose and display with my other 12" SW figures and I'll put the SSC Maul on my 1/6 Sith Speeder. Win-Win.

Besides, Maul will actually be perfectly to scale with other 1/6 SW figures on the undersized Medicom body. :monkey5

Said it before., and I'll say it again.
Having seen The screen used Darth maul costume In person at the magic of the myth exhibit, i can Say, with confidence that Sideshow's cloth and leather costume parts are allmost 100% accurate., the robe is thin and gauzey as it should be the layers are correct, the material is a linen.

HOWEVER his joints are on the meh buck body. it's not perfect, but it's there. also the expression is not a good choice for the character. and beleive it ro not, he is a bit tall. Also, the costume does not fit the figure [properly. it's close, but it's still too tight.

Medi's maul on the other hand uses a velvet material. This is completely inaccureate, and, well, makes maul look somewhat.... well... homosexual. He's Darth maul, Not Darth Fabulous. his outter robe is... odd looking. Not sure what material they used, but it does not look accurate.

HOWEVER His face is fantastic, and the medi body is super articulated. Great for such a physical character as Darth Fab... Er Maul. But, like sideshows his cothing still is not a proper fit. He also suffers from medi's plastic belt sindrome, and ( In my opinion,) supah-sized sabers.

Just my humble opinion, you want the BEST maul possible? Mix and match. use sideshows ostume, belt, and lightsabers,, and Medi's body, head boots and hands. The sideshow costume is the accurate material, and on the smaller body should be correctly baggy as it was on Ray park. :D

FUNNIEST THING ALL DAY!

You are 100% right, and conveyed my thoughts much better than I did. Thanks.

I'll stick with Sideshow, because it fits with my other sith, and I don't have that kind of money...

It is quite a nice figure on Medicom's part though...

I will be having both as well. And I will be enjoying the hell out of both of them.

But feel free to keep up the arguing. It is entertaining.

Is there a Medi vs SS thread? There should be. I think I will check for one over in the misc. discussion area and start one if there is none.

This should be fun.

LOL wait till the Medicom one actually comes out. You've heard nothing yet.:lol

:maul

Looking forward to this figure.:maul

I like my sideshow figs...and we got lots of nice accessories...

Except Pt 2 Jason...

He came with two things...

Still good though...

Is this figure even out yet?

As far as the SS Maul, its not my favorite figure and its not perfect, but if you really think its a "crappy" figure then you need to stop collecting figures. Its average at worst.

Agreed

But what would be the point of coming onto a forum entitled "Sideshow" and critizing Sideshow figures. If there stuck in their own play pen ?

That doesn't mean you can not like some of their product. The whole idea of having a discussion forum is so that people can discuss thier different opinions
and points of view on different product lines.BTW, SS products are'nt the the only products discussed in these forums. The only reason their isn't a Medicom section is because of the bitterness SS collectors have towards Medicom collectors.Because the poeple who are running this board know that Medicom is doing a WAY better job with their 12" line than SS is doing and are afraid of discussing it.I mean c'mon, you gotta respect the japanese they make "everything" better than the Americans.:lol

It is still no reason why these forums should'nt have a Medicom section,Medicom has a Sideshow section so WTF is the deal SS,after all SS does sell Medicoms products and are more of a distubutor.

The only line I see SS kicking any ass in is the PF line. They would be kicking more ass in the PF line if they would lower thier edition sizes.SS has shown some talent in thier 12" line with thier Jabba's throne which I own and I'm quite impressed with. Also the ANH Obiwan looks great,I hope the keep that trevor guy as thier main sculptor because who ever was scuplting before did some hack jobs. That said,I like a lot of the products SS "distribute's" and that's mainly why I'm on this board and there should be a Medicom section.
