No kidding. And why the heck is he wearing that belt so high? He looks like my grandpa with his belt thrown halfway up his waist. What gives? It will improve the figure a TON if the belt was put lower and not right in the middle of his torso.

If the SS figure just had the paint job/expression of the Medicom figure it would be PERFECT.

I like their expression, much calmer and more relaxed, which I personally prefer (although tastes vary). Yeah the paint isn't as precise as MediMaul's is but I find that difference negligible. Both are equally good in my eyes. What your eyes see, however, may differ.

out of all the pics ive seen i just like SS better and its waaay cheaper. i got the inclusive on its way. is that alright with you guys? can we still be friends?:dunno

Anyone got side by side pics of Medi Maul and Sideshow Maul?

You'll find a couple half way down this page over at Medi-World courtesy of Johnnyhaggis-

With all this Medi-Maul craze I just had to bring out my Side-Maul and play around with it.
And man, it really is a very nice figure.
I hadn't "played" with it in a long time and I was surprised at how cool it could look. Obviously, the poses are nowhere near as dynamic as what a Medi-body can do, and the face needs a repaint (well, the eyes and lips), but the figure kicks all kinds of butt.
I'm sure I'll try to find a cheap(er) Medi-Maul somewhere along the way, but I was pleasantly surprised by my re-discovery of Side-Maul.

I like the SS head better too. The Medi one gives off too much of a cartoon vibe. Not sure why, but I'm thinking that it's the eyes. Something about them just comes off as goofy.

I'll say that the red is a lot more vibrant and the lines are cleaner, but that's the only improvement for me.

Sadly, that's exactly how I feel about the SS expression. It's got a blank, dead behind the eyes stare where the Medicom has the evil, menacing look that Maul had in TPM.

Yeah, the SS Maul is trash IMO.The Medi Maul looks to far surpass the SS version regardless of it's minor issues. It has on the awesome-st Maul sculpts I've ever seen, better body, and superior outfit. And no,the sabers don't look toy-ish,no more toy-ish than SS's.The belt is not an issue.Yeah his neck is long from what I've heard and seen, but at least it's fixable.

The sabers are a matter of taste. When SST first unveiled theirs I didn't like them at all, they looked like toothpics, but they have grown on me. Now I appreciate both in their own right.
Just like I like both my Medi and my SST figures... :D

Preferring the Medicom Maul is one thing, but saying the Sideshow version is trash is just nonsense.

I concur. Side-Maul has flaws, but the most glaring is also fixable: the paint apps on the yes.
Other than that, it's a fine figure.
Hopefully SST will make a shorter Prometheus body so we can swap it.

That also depends on whether Prometheus offers multiple neck styles or just the 2 jointed.

Each Maul figure has it's high points. With the Sideshow figure, I feel like I get a figure that shrunk down Ray Park. With the Medicom, I feel like I get a fun "toy" to enjoy. Both very enjoyable in their own unique ways.

The funny thing is, for me, the biggest issue with each one is the base body. With Sideshow's, it's that the Buck isn't the best for posing. With Medicom, the base body is ill-fitting for the character and the structure of the neck joints damages the appearance of what is probably the best human shaped body currently out on the market.

:lol:lol:rotfl So if you are biased towards the figure then the issues don't matter

The SS maul sucks IMO,there's no bias,it just sucks! It has everything wrong with it,all non-fixable.Medi Maul appears to have the neck issue, but the rest of the complaints aren't complaints at all. It's you that's biased.
