It sucks that so many people are stuck on this 1:6 kick.

This is a great figure. Even if it is smaller than HT's stuff. But, it's not made by HT, so what does it matter?

Try appreciating it for what it is, not for what you think it should be.

I've got mine on order with that mindset. I just want a larger than 7" scale figure, but not quite the 24" size of the NECA figure, nice looking ALIEN that's pretty true to the original design. Regardless of scale, I think this one looks nice and knowing how HT's handled aliens in the past, I'm expecting this to be the only figure in a 12-16" range that hits on accurracy, unless NECA releases on of theirs.

I want it to fit in....period. The only one that fits in well is the McF Alien. So, no Alien is better then that one at the moment.

I'm looking forward to it. :naughty Just curious that they aren't more pics..:banghead But it might still be too early? :duh

I agree with Sabres21768. This does look like it's going to be a great figure and I'm also looking forward very much to owning one. I'm much less concerned with the scale issue than any possible quality issues that may or may not arise when it's released, though.

Most of us know all too well that both Medicom and Hot Toys have had their share of problems with some of the rubbery materials used on their figures of late... and there looks to be quite a bit of the stuff on this Alien, as well.

On the positive side, it might not be subjected to the same sort of rigorous posing and handling that many of us expected the HT Aliens warriors to withstand, due to the way the Alien creature moved in the first movie.

If people stick mostly to the sort of upright poses the Giger Alien performed in the film, there should be much less wear and tear on the rubbery material at the critical points where splitting or tearing would be likely to occur.

Anyway, this Medi Alien looks like it'll be a seriously impressive sight just standing there, all by itself. :rock

I think in some ways, that's where manufacturer and collector part ways in thinking.

I think the standard mindset of buyers of 1/6 figures is that the format's advantage is poseability and almost limitless options and that's true, however, certain figures are going to be exceptions to rules and you have to accept them for what they are.

I think Medicom intended this figure to nicely represent Giger's design and Scott's portrayal of the creature, which means more simpler poses and highly detailed design. I think this figure will do that very well, and for me, I'm paying to get those out of it, I'm not thinking about how the same price gets me different things from other figures, it's about looking at this figure by itself and setting your personal price on whether it delivers or not.

The fact that this figure will not blend in with a Hot Toys figure doesn't devalue it as a product, it only devalues it in collector's eyes whose goal is to have an ALIEN figure that meshes into their HT collections, and unfortunately for those wanting an ALIEN with their HT figures, we've got nothing so far, but if you just want a great Giger ALIEN figure in a 12" format, this figure will deliver.

Well Maulfan, you just completely sold me on this one. I had been holding off on ordering him, but now I cannot wait. And I'm sure I can find a way to display him that will showcase the details in this smaller size very nicely.

Thanks,

:maul

I just got this from Medicom to confirm the release date:

Dear Sir

Please note that the production is being delayed.
We will announce when the date is confirmed
We are sorry for the inconvenience

All the best
MEDICOM TOY

So yep it will be released 1st quarter 2009. I know this is old news but I just got the latest info from the source.

****!

I have a trillion things on pesky pre-order that all seem to be slipping into next year!

In a way I'm relieved 'cause my wallet really needs a break, but then again, this means the alien will come out round about the same time as SST's Vader and stormies, right?
And I'm also upset, because this is my most anticipated figure.

I wonder if the delay in production means changes to the prototype we saw.
Personally, I would like them to revise the "suit" idea. It's nice and all, but to make it cover the ankles as well seems unnecessary and makes it look bad. I can understand that they want to hide the joints on the hips, but all the other joints can be easily disguised. Anyway, the ankles just seem overkill to me.

I would like to see new pics.....:banghead.

Ask...and ye shall receive.

I was off buying Medicom 12-inch figures for almost a year but these pictures proved too much for me. I plonked in the cash and pre-ordered this Alien.

Very nice new pics!
I'm still baffled at the decision of covering some joints like elbows and ankles that way (it makes the suit bunch up awfully) and the detail looks pretty soft, but hey, it's a nice alien.
I'm not too sure it merits the 150+ dollar tag, but I guess I'll have to wait until it's in hand to make up my mind.

That's one thing I'll give Hot Toys, their Aliens may have innaccurracies, but their construction method I think is the most ideal.

Sabres21768:

Thank you very much! :monkey2

THE PERFECT ORGANISM INDEED! :banana

I knew it, Shockwave is a robot! a damn droid!

I liked Sabres new pics too. a couple of years ago, I told myself I would never pay $150 for an "action figure." Now, I can't believe that I am considering paying almost $200 for the medicom:horror. will we be paying $500 for a damn rubber toy soon? HOLY Smokes!
