That looks like an Alien. Not a guy in a suit. Its all about the apperence. And I dont even notice the Alien as a guy in a suit. Only the accurate toys...

That's because of the filming of the creature, it was shot to hide the fact that in full body and seen in a lot of motion, it might not look believable. The only shot you really see it fully is when Ripley spears it, and in that shot, it does look dude in a suit like, almost cheesy, but by that point you're rooting for its death so you just care about what happens to it, not how it looks.

The accurrate figures look off because you're not seeing them framed and filmed like the film did, but they are true to what was on the set and used to make the film images. I can take photos of the figures and make them look as creature like as the movie made the guy look.

And thats my point. Thats why I like McF's the best because it makes hard to imagine a person under that "costume" wheres NECA's and Medi's look like there is a person under there.

I'll stop now...because I can forsee those angry accuracy Alien fans jumping down my throat pretty soon.....

There's no need for anyone to get on anyone's case, it's all about preference.

Some will want the figure to represent the design used to present the screen images, others will want a figure to embody the way the creature was presented on film.

Like that dude says at the beginning of Armageddon....Its happend before...it WILL happen again....*cue dramatic titles*

Anyone that has seen my collection knows how much it revolves around aliens; however, I will have to pass on this one.

There's not much left for me to say, as CelticP has already said it.
I don't like it.... it looks weird. Too....."fake".

Here's hoping HT comes through for people like CelticP and myself.

I won't judge this one till its released, It looks nice in the pics though. I'm an accuracy buff, so this one already has the HT aliens beaten.

It'd be ironic if HT finally did right on replicating the original design with the figure from this movie instead of going more artistic in their interpretation.

There is a middle ground. It can be very accurate, yet maintain some artistic changes to make it seem more like how the Alien would look in its world, rather then how it looks in ours.

You see, I think the real point is that you're missing the essence of what the alien in the first movie was meant to represent. Giger said it himself: the alien should be a perversion of the human form. It came from a human, so it should look a human. Just different.
I don't want the "guy-in-a-suit" look if that means seeing how the rubber suit bunches up when the alien flexes its arms. But I do want the accurate look of the movie. That's why I like the NECA figure. And that is what worries me about the Medi-alien.
As for the other aliens, again, I don't think anybody wants Tom Woodruff in a suit. We want the look of the animatronic puppets for Aliens, the rod puppet for Alien 3 and the CGI sculpt for Alien Resurrection, AvP and AvP-R. But accurate. And if the designers working on these figures can disguise lots of articulation into them you'll have all the cool posing you'd like to have to make them look more sinister and alien.

But I was just messing with ya CP! :D

Dont worry, I get yer point. But I think....just my two cents, I think they should make it more inhuman. NECA's sans the head is pretty good....but the head is horrid, and it puts me off compleatly. :D
