I just hope it doesn't disintegrate like Goku...

Yep, anyone who knows me will know how much I love xenomoprphs, but there is no way on Darwins Earth I am risking £100 on a figure that (I hate to say) will probably have a lot of problems and disintegrate within two years of purchase.

I'm actually there myself. I've got this on PO with Sideshow because it'll likely be the most accurrate ALIEN of its size range, but the recent QC horror stories regarding Medicom have me fearful. I've read similar about HT though and haven't experience any of those problems myself, but I have no experience with Medicom and this sort of figure, and at $170 with a tight budget, I may go with popular consensus on quality control in this matter.

I don't know if I've been lucky with HT but so far I have over 60 and even my ALIENS warrior is trouble free (a little loose but no breakages), I managed to snap the end of a Pred spear but that was my fault and I'm sorry to say the rubber hood on my ED-209 looks like its perished a tiny bit in one place (luckily not much though).
I have over 20 Medicom figures and I've personally had two fall apart at the hip. But I'm also a member over at Mediworld and I've seen some real horror stories, the QC on things like the new MGS figures was appalling, the DBZ figs have problems, the Vader suits seem to be decaying on many peoples figures and the fragility of the comic Spidey is now legendary.
Now I don't expect manufacturers to be able to make things faultless every time, they are human and can be let down by many things along the chain before the goods end up in our sticky mitts. What I can't forgive is the attitude of Medicom when you try to contact them; if you are lucky enough to get a reply it's nearly always a stock corporate letter. They seem to be of the mind 'we've got your money, go screw yourself, so I'm not letting them have any more of my money on new releases. I'm not stupid, I know I'm just one tiny voice but I'm fed up with the attitude, so Medicom won't be on my collecting radar unless they make big customer care changes and let us know they take the selling of goods that are not fit for purpose seriously. I've always collected what I consider to be the work that bet showcases the state of this particular art. Right now HT are way out in front, Enterbay are snapping at their heels and Sideshow are making a concerted effort and on the whole seem to be improving a lot. Of course there are lots of other companies like DiD and I have high hopes for Go Hero, their stuff previewed all looks sterling. But sadly Medicom, a company who a few short years ago were one of my favourites are now too much of a risk to be worth bothering with... a real shame.

Well, my main concern with this figure is the longevity of the rubber. I hear horror stories with Medi bodies but I've got like half a dozen Medi figures with no issue so that's not my concern. Just feels like a big gamble getting this thing with people seeming bothered with QC of very recent items.

I am still a novice on this stuff. However...:duh I think, hope Medicom will understand just how "brittle" their previous RAH figs are? And they are smart enough to make the Alien & future figs more sturdy, durable etc....:D

I'm not stupid, I know I'm just one tiny voice..

You'd be surprised man. When it comes to consumers and products all it takes is one tiny voice to sway and scare away potential buyers. Especially if that tiny voice is being "heard" over the internet etc. I personally would never buy anything from Medicom because of all the negative things I've heard about their products. Legitimate complaints/criticism too.. not fanboy rants/opinions. I'm interested in their upcoming TDK Batman.. but I'll definitely have a "wait and see" approach to that. So speaking out about things like this does make a difference.. it's just not obvious sometimes.

As much of an Alien fan as I am, I had to cancel. Too much coming out, and this figure has such a high price point. Not to mention the rubber fears. I will wait to see what happens with other folks, and possibly pick one up on the aftermarket after a year or so.

:(

I love the hands of Medicom RAH alien ……but I think it's impossilble to get 2 hands from them……

Awesome!
I think we can expect in-hand pics from Asia within the month!
I'm crossing my fingers that this figure will be truly great and not a disappointment.

Well, of the more accurrate looking ALIEN figures, your size choices will likely end up 8", 12" or 24", this Medi is the nice middle ground of the three.

"In box" pics are starting to show up...
