Medicom did a great job on those droids. Just wasn't a fan of their clones/human figs from their SW 1/6 line. I'd get these regardless of scale if it wasn't for that obsurd price point.

They both look amazing. The finish on 3PO looks incredible. But afford I can not. And there's the whole scale thing, like everyone else has already pointed out.

:lecture Totally agree! :monkey2

Can't wait for SIDESHOW'S!

Even with the slight size issue, those look fantastic. Great work making 3PO look metal. And they went the extra mile with the lighting. Little too expensive though. They should be around $150 max and R2 should be slightly cheaper IMO. He obviously involves less work to make. Still, they get props because you can tell some people really put some real thought and care into making the best looking R2 & 3PO they could make.

That raises the bar for SSC. They need to stop being greedy and re-releasing clones over and over simply to make money. You're not fooling anyone. Hasbro invented that style of business years ago and I never thought SSC would go that route.

I had great respect for SSC's talented artists & I always envisioned them wanting to take chances and make new and better ways to make 1/6 scales figures even better...like Hot Toys. They are making incredible new engineering strides with the Iron Man figures and with the very risky use of rubber bodies.
I was blown away with Dutch and Hellboy and eagerly await Leonidas to ship. All 3 purchased BTW, for $149.99 each...only $20 more than what SSC want for those cheap looking Clonetroopers and cross-eyed Lukes and whatnot.

I seems to me that the artists at Sideshow are showing a noticable favortism to their 1/4 scale statues and such. The 1/6 scale quality decreases while the 1/4 seem to get better. If that's the case then give the SW 1/6 license to another company that will be truly excited by it and strive to make the best figures they can, not pump out clone after clone to save money on molds AND keep increasing their price!:exactly:

I have collected the 1/6 SW figures since Jedi Luke...where the &*$#@ is Yoda? Chewie? Boba Fett? Dooku? Slave Leia with a new female body? Cantina aliens like Hammerhead that would require new sculpting...too much money evidently. Cheaper to keep pumping out clones with different (sometimes poor) paint jobs. Where is a Queen Amidala in one of her amazing outfits. Too much of a challenge for the SSC wardrobe dept. maybe? Here you have the entire Star Wars universe at your fingetips...so many fantastic and beautiful character designs...and you make CLONES.:slap

While I love their design dearly, they are arguably the most boring and conformist designed characters in the movies. They are meant to look uniform and not flashy. So you have all the cantina aliens,Yoda,Jawas,etc...the list of cool looking bizarre characters in all 6 films is staggering. Yet you make...clones. How many years has it been since they started and when you look at your collection it looks very thin as far as Star Wars goes. Lots of Jedi and Clone/Stormtroopers pretty much. If you see the SSC Star Wars 1/6 scale line as a whole, it sadly does not look very ambitious what so ever. So congratulations to Medicom for having to nerve to make what SSC is either not confident to make and/or just don't care to because it would be too much work. They're too busy trying to find out all the clone and stormtrooper ranking color variations.

I naively hoped that SSC would take this line so far as to make a 1/6 scale Wampa,a Tauntaun...even maybe a Bantha with an amazingly done Tusken Raider with sweet 1/6 scale wrappings on his costume...equal to the nice 1/4 scale they made. HA.:slap
Boy, was I wrong.

Wow, so the rant continues in the Medi thread yet the clearly ridiculous MSRP, QC and lack of accessories of Medicom figures is completely left out. And people call me an apologist? To this day I'll never understand why people who hate sideshow are members of a forum for fans of the company. :lol

But, alas, Medicom didn't think it through enough to make sure they were in scale with each other. :lol

If you spent any time here, you'd know people were clamoring for armored troopers for years. Sideshow delivered. Sorry you don't like it.

Makes me glad I favor 1/4 as well. :wave

You don't think they are working on any of these?

So congratulations to Medicom for having to nerve to make what SSC is either not confident to make and/or just don't care to because it would be too much work. They're too busy trying to find out all the clone and stormtrooper ranking color variations.
Where were you when Medicom was cranking out the clones a few years ago? Every color of the rainbow. They also didn't think it through enough to include the correct rifle with the EPII clones over multiple releases. Couple this with Medicom's track record of releasing 2-3 SW figures a year, and you'll be one bored collector if you collect Medicom exclusively.

It's obvious you felt the need to vent a lot of Sideshow hate. We really can't help you. :hi5:

If you could get by your personal aggression towards people over the internet & read my posts you would understand I don't hate Sideshow at all. Why would I have bought so many of their figures if I hate them?:lol Were you really shell shocked in Nam and that's why you're so hateful talking to people over the internet? You accost so many people here I don't know why they let you stay.

Anyway, my point in a nutshell (for all you guys who don't like to read anything involving paragraphs) is that I feel, like many others, that the vastly increased prices SSC are charging for figures is not justified.
Especially when they are mostly just re-using old parts they have already used on 6 other figures and adding a couple new parts and jacking up the price for no reason other than they know Star Wars fans are suckers that will pay whatever they want.

There is no physical reason that Rex figure costs $125. It's just not there. A slight change to a headsculpt already made, the same basic armor,a very cheap looking skirt,a jetpack & some blue paint? Oh boy, 12 hands! Let's bet how many of them you get on before the wrist pegs snap...

You're telling me you honestly believe you could compare that to lets say,HT's Iron Man? You think a clone is as equally difficult to make as the Iron Man MK1? Gimme a break. SSC prices are now, sadly, a rip off.

100 for Greedo?:lol
He looks like no more work than the first SW figures they made for $50. Infaltion has not gone up that much. Next thing you know they will be trying to charge $200 for a Jawa.

You guys can keep fattening their wallets but collectors who want real quality have crossed over to Hot Toys. They are now the undisputed kings of the 1/6 scale market and ebay proves it very clearly.
I had hopes that SSC were going to really go at making some great SW figures when I heard they were working with Hot Toys. Sadly,it's probably HT's help that made the SSC Vader so great.

So again, I don't hate Sideshow at all. I think they have some of the best artists in the country but I'm disappointed in what they've become.
I had high hopes they were going to do great things with the Star Wars license but that hope has faded as they look to have become Hasbro and just go after money.

Let them jack up their prices. All it's going to do is make more and more customers realize they can get some fantastic Hot Toys figure for the same price as some re-hashed clone with different colored armor & the line will fail just like LOTR. That may sound ridiculous or funny to some of you but think: at the rate the SSC Star Wars have gone up in just 2 years, many other collectors like myself are going to simply not pay the prices they want. I have noticed over the last year that the SW figures are not selling out like they used to. Who the hell wanted a Clone Wars cartoon version of Anakin with some weird hybrid face that is half cartoony/half realistic? Not me. And not many others either from the looks of how it sold.

Not to mention, this is frickin Capt. Rex we're talking about here.:slap:rotfl
This is not Yoda, this is not Chewbacca, this is not even an Ughnaught.
It's a character from a not so great cartoon.

I don't even understand why they're making crap figures from that poorly made CG mess when they still have countless amazingly cool characters FROM THE MOVIES to do? Oh yeah, I do: they can make a couple new cheap plastic parts, maybe tweak a head & throw it on their already made movie Anakin and/or clone and viola! A new $125 toy.
If they love the Clone Wars cartoon so much why not make Ahsoka? She's been the most popular figure in the Hasbro line by far. Oh yeah, there's no figures to re-hash her from.

C'mon guys , all figures and others things of these companies are beautiful , some better , others less , this is the forum of SSC ok , But not because of it, it is necessary to revere to the brand, they makes wonderful things and others not so much , like Medi , the thing is , discuss with respect and to debate on this beautiful hobby that so much we like .

They both look amazing. The finish on 3PO looks incredible. But afford I can not. And there's the whole scale thing, like everyone else has already pointed out.

I have not said anything about scale, and i'm really the only one you should listen to. :)

Afford i cannot either. (at least till they drop)

Totally awesome figures however, I am trying to sell my current Medi's while avoiding buying more Medicom's. :slap

If you have their Tie Fighter Pilot of Royal Guard up for sale, I'd be very interested!

I'd quite like another Stormtrooper too, so that I can have two flanking my Vader.

holy crap these droids look cool! may have to give Medicom a 2nd chance...

I'll buy R2-D2 since I'm sure the SSC won't be for some time still. It looks good and I'll just keep him by my computer desk so I'm not too bent outta shape over scale accuracies
