People just talk about it and talk about it till it's blown out of proportion and one believes it's so ____ed up you would never want it. Then when you get it in hand you wonder what the fuss is about.

Never had a problem with Medicom's scale myself. Some people are picky about their toys height. If .25 -.5 inches bothers you stay away. If you enjoy genuine coolness, and well done SW figures, and are not put off too much by the price....Indulge. Scale is the LEAST of my worries with these figures.

I will wait for the inevitably superior Sideshow version", and yet you never see Medicom fans going into Sideshow threads and saying "Cool, but too big. I'll stick with the obviously superior Medicom version".

I'm completely agnostic when it comes to cool toys. I've got the Medicom Sandtrooper, but I'm hoping to get the Sideshow one as well at some point. I'll buy whatever looks good, be it 5 inches tall or 5 feet tall. There is no right or wrong in this, just personal preference.

sure thing - they're from rakuten.co.jp, from a store called pricebuster (プライスバスター). i've ordered from them before. reliable store. not sure if they'll ship directly overseas but worth asking. if not, you could try one of those shopping services. even with the commission cost it'll still be cheaper than the SS price.

Very. In the case of the Clone Troopers, it's the juvenile physical proportions and the T-rex arms. Height-wise though, they're fine. In most cases (Han and all of the OT troopers), it's about an inch. In others, like Vader, it's blatantly ridiculous. They look good together, but silly with the Sideshows. And once the "cool factor" wears off, the price tag always sneaks up to bend you over and kick you right in the ass.

You missed some of the days obviously of how it was the opposite.


I've had many a medicom figure over the years. Having said that if I'm gonna spend that kind of money I want better versions from either Sideshow or Hot Toys.

Like defending the price tag, that's an irrational argument. But Medicom fans sure won't hesitate to pop into a Sideshow thread with claims of an inferior "stylized" likeness being more accurate.

i have no idea why the prices outside of japan for medi stuff are so high. but i guess it's the same as the sideshow prices being about 19,000 yen in japan. i would never pay that much for a sideshow figure ever.

it comes down to which style you prefer. if you're happy with one, stick to one. if you're happy with both, get both. variety is the spice of life. i like the medi style for their armoured stuff (less so for the human stuff). i don't like the sideshow style for any of them. i guess that's why i don't even bother going into the sideshow star wars threads. you know, to say repeatedly how i hate them, and pointing out their defects. coz you know, i have better things to do.

Are you inlcuding the droids NAM? I don't know if SSC is going to pull this off. I hope they do but that video was awesome.

Yeah. Unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, the detail is awesome, and the light-up features - though gimmicky- are cool, but 3PO will likely be as short as Leia and R2 not even being to scale with 3PO, ridiculously undersized. That, added with the fact that they're $200 a piece make them an easy pass. I have some awesomely weathered Hasbro droids that fit in just fine until Sideshow releases theirs. And with how well the clones have been turning out, I'm not the least bit worried.

I also have some minor issues with 3PO. His face is stylized (kinda shrunk in comparison to his head) and there's no underlying body, which I think was a blatant shortcut by Medi to lessen production costs while maximizing profits. Disappointing.

That said, if you have $400+ shipping to blow, and don't plan on displaying them with any Sideshow figures, go for broke. They're awesome figures!

Still too expensive (and undersized) for me to get 3P0, so I'll wait for Sideshow's droids... in 2036. But I'm an R2 completist and like how Medicom's looks. I'll get that one as well.
