The 360 is practically a decrepit system in Japan, it just doesn't sell. So, I'm wondering how popular the MGS franchise will be once it goes "green".

Also, I remember that the sale numbers for Substance on the original X-Box were quite terrible.

Substance was just a re-deco of MGS2 with new features, and it eventually came to PS2.

But I do agree, MGS Rising won't save the 360 in Japan, but it will give the console a nice sales boost for a week at the very least.

Well, I'm not sure if even MGS will be able to save the 360 in Japan. Will people honestly buy a 360 for just one game?

Anyways, Raiden was always Kojima's favorite character (it perplexes me as to why, exactly). It is known, that while making games on the Playstation, Kojima came under a lot fire for attempting to replace Snake with Raiden. As such, perhaps Kojima feels that Raiden will have a better reception if he introduces the character to a new fan base. But honestly, will it be wise of Kojima to screw-over the already established (and old) MGS fan base of Playstation owners?

Perhaps I'm jumping the gun here in assuming that this game may end up as a 360 exclusive. But, it wouldn't surprise me. After all, Kojima did introduce "MGS: Rising" during the Microsoft press conference. We'll see how things go.

I really do hope that is Kojima just being smart to see that it would be mutually beneficial to Konami and Microsoft to have had him in there for the announcement.

In Japan? Yes. When Tales of Vesperia was released late last year for 360 in Japan, it gave the console a big sales boost for the month.

^ One of the lines for the release of Tales of Vesperia. It will happen again for MGS Rising.

Just as a heads up guys, the countdown clock stops at exactly 6:00 PM EST. I'll crack up if the only thing that happens on the site, is the E3 trailer for MGS: Rising :lol.

Playing as Raiden? Meh! Just because he dressed like Grey Fox in MGS4 doesn't mean it makes up for him being such a whiny little girl in MGS2 lol. Still it's another MGS game so it's not all bad I suppose.

OMG, I hope this is a piss-take. If Metal Gear turns into some ninja rubbish then Kojima has officially become the new Lucas. Microsoft probably waddled into Hideo's office and dumped a big bag of cash on his desk and said "We don't care if it sucks, just make us a Metal Gear." Great. :monkey4

As long as Snake isn't in the game, I say SCREW IT! :lol Regardless if the new game is a 360 exclusive or not, after playing MGS 2, I made up my mind, that I will never play another game with Raiden as the main character. I distress that Kojima is alienating a majority of the MGS fan base, with his decision for creating a Raiden-based game. Not to mention that if MGS exclusives are released for the 360, he's alienating the fans there as well. Wow, that's twice he's screwed us over! Dang! Kojima's on a roll!

What you've said makes a lot of sense. The original Star Wars trilogy was something great. But the new trilogy, made it seem as if Lucas Arts was only interested in generating revenue, at the cost of the great storytelling that was in the previous trilogy. Lucas turned Star Wars into utter crap with the new movies!

I just pray that MGS doesn't suffer a similar fate. I'm starting to believe that the entire MGS franchise should have officially ended after MGS 4.
