My first reaction and remaining thoughts are WTF, surely they mixed up the trailers and posted this crap by mistake.

Without a doubt THE worst trailer EVER!!!!

I just find it hilarious, that after all of Kojima's complaints years back, about how the fans held back his plans to replace Snake with Raiden as the main character in MGS, that Raiden turned out to be unplayable in the end . So much so, that they had to give him his own craptacular series that no one really cares about. Rising will be a passing memory when the next, real MGS game with Snake gets released (of course, I still hold firm to the belief that series should have ended with MGS 4). Snake = MGS. Snake = MG. Enough said.

Where did you hear that? I always heard Raiden was created to get female gamers to play the games in an attempt to widen the audience to me that would make it more of a move for the fans.

It was an attempt to widen the licence but more importantly to strengthen the appearance of Snake as a legend. Which it did.

I still remember the first time I played MGS2. The opening bridge cinematic was so incredible back then. Then I played through the game only to find out that I had to finish as Raiden.

I can't remember,but did anyone know that Raiden was gonna be the playable character before the game was released?I certainly didn't.

I don't think anyone expect that. Kojima kept it a secret until the game was released. If I remember correctly, Konami even requested for reviewers to stay silent about it.

My point was, that Snake took the back seat in MGS 2. He was reduced to cameo appearance, compared to Raiden who was the star of the game. If that wasn't an indicator that Kojima was trying to shift the focus away from Snake and onto another character, then I don't know what is.

Of course, I'm not contradicting any that you said. It's true that older characters like Snake are less popular with young Japanese chicks, and they have a preference to males with more feminine features (I still don't understand this mid-set in Japanese society). So, with that being said, Kojima tried his experiment and it failed with the fans (most of them anyway). Not sure about the young Japanese chicks, but I doubt that most of them even picked up MGS 2 because of Raiden.

Not really. Kojima always had MGS 3 in mind, even though he never said anything about it. His historical pattern when making MGS games, is to always say that the game that he's working on will be his last for the series. Then a few years down the line, he'll announce another MGS game.

Also, MGS 2 ended with such a cliff hanger. Please don't tell me that you would've been satisfied with that ending .

Your prediction may be right. The new trailer has more dislikes than likes on YouTube, and that just never happens for an MGS game.

Well, I'm not sure if it's a trailer, reveal, or what. But, Nova posted it on the previous page. The quality is poor, and it looks campy and fan-made. But it's legit, and from Konami .
