Story wise, MGS did end in 2008, MGR's the closest to any true continuation frankly. It's funny, MGS ended for me in 2008. But, I honestly think I'm burnt out with this series after MGS V . Kojima chose a right time to depart (or rather, Konami chose a right time to fire him) because this thing has been going on for far too long. I also feel like an old man, being a generation older than a lot of the upcoming kidz, who played Peace Walker in 2010 and have since latched onto this series like their momma's umbilical chords.
MGS V might be the greatest game in the series, or it might be a complete flop in terms of its storyline and themes. But, it's not even going to matter, and discussing the future of this franchise no longer makes sense. Kojima's not with Konami anymore, and the next MGS "game" might be in a yaoi-themed pachinko machine.
Coming Sept. 1st, this series is done, folks!
I know how you feel with PW, I feel that way with some franchises sometimes like kids who started with the more recent Legend of Zelda titles and don't know about the glory of the older games that paved the way....a few other franchises also are the same. Don't get me wrong, some of the recent Zelda games are fine, but those kids are too oblivious to the flaws and almost glorify them. It's almost the same with other franchises too, like Sonic, as you and I have talked about before. Don't get me started about kids and the new :
I really just hope Konami will know to leave MGS alone and just do Metal Gear games. Leave Kojima's work alone. At least leave MGS1-3 alone...
