Solidus is still one of the best villain/anti-heros of the series. I liked Volgin and scheming Ocelot, but Solidus is incredibly underrated. He's probably the most "deep" of them all. He knew he wouldn't have long to live, but wanted to free the country by any means necessary.

Thinking of that just pisses me off we got such a bad sequel.

Are you referring to MGS4 or V?

MGS4 was terrible, but at least it had the MGS feel to it. The gameplay, graphics, music are still very good and while it has a crap story, at least there was effort.

Yeah MGS4. Crappy cluster ****, globe trotting nonsense... but at least it was relevant to the series as a whole. You can't remove MGS4 from the series since it's very much connected to the entire plot... where as V is completely inconsequential. You can do the same with PW, and even MPO to an extent. Although MPO builds the foundation of Outer Heaven without Big Boss's lore losing it's integrity.

I don't think it's the same Kojima. The fan base can say what they want about MGS2, but at least everything had a point. I always say MGS1 and 2 are the pinnacle of Kojima's genius.

Didju got your PS2 just for MGS2?

I got it about a month late, and MGS2 was out of stock so they had the original DMC, which I thought was great but that sure killed the mood. I had to wait another month before the stores had MGS2 in stock again. Saving up your own pocket money to buy a console for just one game, good times.

I remember how blown away I was by the graphics, there was just nothing close next to it. It was just surreal.

I got it mainly for MGS2 but also for GTAIII. I have a bad experience with MGS2, since my mom got me a ****** third party memory card that I couldn't set up to save with so I played the Tanker chapter like 20 times over... I couldn't get another card for a day or so.

Also gonna say this but I never quite liked any version of Kojima. I would take the old one over this new one who is clearly going out of his way to appeal to hipster millennials.

The reason he looked that way was to completely distance the player from Solid Snake, as Raiden is the complete opposite of the gruff archetype hero MGS fans wanted. He also appeared androgynous so that his gender doesn't play a role in the themes. As for being nude, it was a way to disarm and emasculate the player before the reveal of the Patriot A.I and meeting up Solid Snake, who effectively appeared more cool next to a naked, sneezing Raiden. Raiden is an instrument of provoking and infuriating the player, until the end where it's revealed that he has an equally, if not more tortured past than Snake.

As for the crotch grabbing, it was clearly a way to make American Presidents ashamed of their words and deeds- an antithesis to the clean, just image of American Presidents who usually don't grab people by the crotch. See? This game is deeper than you'd think!

Eh, just everybody celebrating the 15th anniversary in their own way I guess. If the game was for PS4, I would have created a private webcam party of sorts for all of us. With strippers.
