Truthfully, I really don't trust professional review scores a lot. They don't serve as anything more, than a clever way of marketing a game, when publishers can stamp labels on the box arts like "10/10 - IGN" or "Game of the Year".

I'd rather read Amazon user reviews, since you can take in a lot from both the positive and negative scores.

I don't trust user reviews because a lot of times you have raging fanboys rating games a 1 based on dumb things like console loyalty, or distaste for devs pricing DLC too high.

Ubisoft is a pretty big studio and most of their games these days haven't got such great reviews.

The only real franchise I think gets decent reviews based on their name alone is Call of Duty.

I don't trust anyone....

Not even myself...

The "story" is my only true issue with it.
Story and the boss fights are the only problems I have. The gameplay is all right.

Pturtle's picture of some metacritic scores are why I'm sketchy to some reviews as well, cause even for a PSP game, I would not have said that high remarks. I respect the God of War PSP games for that alone, being on the PSP and delivering good experiences, same with the GTA games. But I did not think that incredibly high of them, same with PW.

The thing about reviewers is that you have to pick the ones you like, I don't have any favorites except for maybe angry joe, he's awesome, his reviews go deep into artistic and technical matters, I don't always agree with him but his opinion always seems honest.

Unlike IGN, shallow dumb misguided reviews 90% of the time, I don't bother to go to them anymore except for some news.

Those imbeciles gave Alien Isolation a 5 :slap

As for the reviews Turtle and I posted, well, I was just saying PW got a lot of praise as being the best MGS experience on PSP, and as you can see, that's true, it's not like it's one or two, it's a whole bunch of them.

Of course it's not better than the main MGS games, but it didn't have to be, it was just better than everything else on the console and still better than most games at the time, home console or not.

I don’t think IGN or even Gamespot are paid off like most people think though. I usually don’t agree with their reviews but its the reviewers opinion. iGN and Gamespot both recently just put out articles and videos pleading for gamers to not buy the Arkham Knight DLC. If they were paid off, they certainly wouldn’t be making videos like taking action against possibly the biggest game coming out this year.

Or the biggest game coming out this year didn't bribe them and this is retaliation from them. :lol

I do hate DLC tho.

I guess thats possible :lol

I don’t mind DLC if its done right, Rockstar usually puts out quality DLC at fair pricing.

Sorry just read your replies now. I know this might sound like splitting hairs but I don't really see those reviews saying it's more Metal Gear than the other Metal Gears. They are just saying it's the technical best game on PSP over all.

I meant they are more metal gears than the other PSP metal gears, the reviews do say that.

It's just clearly the best PSP game. It truly feels like a full console game, with lots of extras. It's weird that it loses its charm on PS3

Well, the amped the resolution but the textures remained the same, plus the PSP controls were charmingly clunky, it was almost an art to perfect them, like Killzone 2.

Man I've gone back to MGS2 for the VR missions this weekend for some punishment and the regular Snake variety sniper level had me on it for tiiime.. I finished it at like 3 in the morning

It's already making me cry a bit on the inside thinking about the MGS1 snake variety sniper mission

You must love Darksouls. I was playing the VR missions myself not too long ago.I cant go through the monotony of doing the same missions over and over again, just to get to that extremely hard Sniper mission. Its the one VR mission i could never do. Its a Black mark on my gaming life.

I do adore the variety missions. I wish it was just more of those. I actually played through and finished MGS1s VR 2 years ago for the first time. Those still hold up haha!

Funny you should mention MGS1 VR missions actually as I was thinking about those the other week, I've yet to ever complete them too. I can't even remember playing them
