Doesn't the the same woman who does the voice of the iDroid say "V something" in the hospital sequence? I thought it was the nurse, but then I remembered it was the voice of the iDroid, but we didn't have it at that point. Maybe it's just showing that they're enacting the protocol for all those themes in the game. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to signify "time for vengeance" or what?

Edit: it was Quiet who said it. Thanks pturtle.

I didn't think of the 5th Snake since I keep referring to the guy as the phantom. It reminds me of Ocelot's quote in MGS2 when he says, "Given the right situation, the right story, anyone be shaped into Snake." I guess a torture sequence wasn't necessary for this one. Although, being forced to kill your comrades when they look up at you gasping "Boss?" like they're being betrayed, or killing them as they salute you is probably worse.

The V has so many meanings in this game and Peace Walker :lol

Off the top of my head, it of course relates to Venom, the number 5 (this being the 5th game), 5th Snake, and the peace sign also carries over from Peace Walker.
Does Venom really count as the 5th snake though? Technically, he is the 6th (if you count Raiden as a snake, he was using the code name as given by the patriots until it was changed to Raiden). And even then, if that doesnt count. Was he actually a " Snake " outside of marketing and opening Credits. And the only time Snake is uttered in the game was by Huey, the pod from peace walker and ...... ghost Paz? Because he was wearing Snakes face. The rest of the time he was just Boss.

Donna Burke does the voice of the idroid, Quiet is the one that saids “V has come to” before she gets lit up :lol

I would consider him a Snake, but I see where you coming from too. At the end of the day though, his name shows up in every credit scene as Venom “Punished” Snake, he is the other Big Boss.

I wouldn’t consider Raiden a Snake because they dropped that code name for him like 5 minutes into the game.

I thought his voice acting was really bad, but I love what they did with the character. It really separated him from Otacon.

Dang it, that was Quiet! Thank you pturtle! Boy, I feel dumb!

Yes, he was the weakest of the cast, but I really enjoyed his character. No wonder Otacon had so many problems with infatuation. It makes me appreciate him crying over Sniper Wolf more!

Yea, while this game felt so self contained it did answer some stuff, like Ocelot being the one to murder Miller before MGS1.

This is where i take issue with " Venom Snake ". I dont mind if Raiden doesnt count as an actual snake, but he was called Snake in-game audibly. You can argue that the patriots are real, not real, dont have the authority to give a man the Snake codename. But he started that mission as Snake. But Venom was only ever called snake audibly, because he was mistaken for the real snake. Nobody actually bestowed the codename upon him, only marketing. In the game itself he is Boss, Big Boss. Prior to that he was a Medic.

My stance, is that i was fine with Raiden not being a Snake, but now with " Venom Snake " i wont accept Raiden wasnt a snake if Venom counts as a snake. Its maybe an OCD problem on my end. But i love the Metal Gear franchise and i like to talk and **** about it so here we are!

That makes sense, I get why you don't consider him a Snake, I guess it would be like considering Ocelot to actually be Liquid even though we know he really wasn't, but to me, since the medic became Big Boss he also became Naked Snake, the whole Venom/Punished part of it is just to describe where this Snake is at in his life, sort of like Old Snake was really Solid Snake to me, just older :lol

Since the medic lives out the rest of his life as Big Boss's phantom, builds motherbase, manages a portion of Outer Heaven and gets revenge on Skullface, which is really everything the real Big Boss should have done, I feel like he's definitely worthy of being a Snake, even if he's never really called Venom Snake in the game.

Yes, MGSV really helped me appreciate MGS and MGS4 much more. That's what I was really liking the story for, but now that you explained Skullface, I love it even more. I can now appreciate it as a self-contained entity.

Don't worry, Kiva. I've done the same, and I love every game in this series.

I almost wish we got an MGS6 so we could get Big Boss returning to take the title back from the Phantom. In MGS2 when Solid shouts to Solidus ( who at the time was claiming he was Solid ) that he wasnt the real Solid Snake id like to get that confrontation between the 2 Big Bosses. And have them duel it out for ownership of the name and the history behind it.

That would be awesome. I'm wondering though, when the real Big Boss sends Solid to infiltrate outer heaven, was that because he wanted to get rid of the phantom or Solid?

Well, here's something interesting. I just read on the Steam forum, that during the hospital scene, Ishmael had the his left eye covered. However, Big Boss is blind in his right eye. But, it's not only that. Big Boss had a full beard when Ocelot gave him the motorcycle. Ishmael, on the other hand, was clean shaven. Could Mission 46 be a complete farce, or a delusion or some sort?

Edit: Just remembered that Eli's DNA didn't match with Venom Snake, so that couldn't be it. Man, screw this nonsense...

MGSV is so bland looking, I just noticed that I only had 30 screenshots taken. 25 are from Quiet. The rest was the Jeep scene.

That was the most awkward scene in the entire game. Neither characters spoke anything, while Sins of the Father was being performed by a minstrel in the background. It was even more cringe-worthy than when Snake shouted "Otaaacooooooonnnn!!" in MGS 4.

I don't think Kojima was responsible for that. The man knows what he wants in cinematography, and he directs it well. That Sins of the Father scene way too amateurish for him.

Even though his eye is covered, he has two working eyes. When I hid under the bed, I hid where he was and there's no indication it's Big Boss... it's even different face model.

This is by far, the worst MGS game in the series. I find it hard to believe that it's even "A Hideo Kojima Game". Hardly anything makes sense, and it's not the kind of ambiguity that makes you ponder about things. The mysteries in the game are just lame plot devices that don't add up, whatsoever.

I watched Mission 51 on the Collector's Edition Blu Ray, and it was like such a punch in the gut, that it wasn't developed further and added into the actual game. In fact, it makes me wonder what else was removed, that we don't even know about. You can tell that Kojima had a grand plan for MGS V. But, sadly, the missions, the plotline, and even the music aren't arranged in a harmonious fashion.

Also, I wanted to watch cutscenes, and not rely on cassette tapes to catch up on 80% of the story. Everything about this game feels so disjointed. You can tell that there's MGS underneath it all, but it's just one big, giant mess.
