I've seen the Hot Toys in person and have held it in my hands (along with the Knightmare). Best thing about it is the body and suit construction. That's about it. It's an overrated figure, just like the DX 12 TDKR Hot Toys that everyone had to customize back in 2012.
Like I said before, the Hot Toys Batman heads aren't impressive. It's not just Affleck. I physically own the Armory And DX 12 Bale (had the OC MMS 67, Toy Fairs, DX and DX 02 before I sold them), Adam West Batman, the DX 09 Keaton and the Batman Returns Batman. Like Affleck, they all have the same problem. Swappable faces and moveable eyes. It's just not realistic. Hot Toys sculptors also idealize the hell out of their sculpts and Batman is no exception.
The best TDK Bale cowled head is Medicom's head (which utilizes a scan of the actual cowl), not Hot Toys.
The best Keaton Batman head/cowl is NECA's 7" one, not Hot Toys. Every company should be approaching NECA's ingenious way of incorporating an actual head underneath a mask, but they don't.
Same applies for Hot Toys Affleck. It's a gorgeous looking figure overall, but in terms of the headsculpt, which is the discussion at hand, it's not even close to Jakks' scan. Again, not only do you have the weird mouths and eyes giving him a catlike look, you had a sculptor that makes mistakes and idealizes everything from the mouth to the furrowed brow of the cowl. Jakks literally scanned the man, you can't get better than that. Now if the argument was that the Hot Toys production verion has better paint apps or more stuff, then yeah, it is better. But we're talking about sculpts, and the Jakks one is better. Hell, I'm crazy enough to buy a loose Hot Toys head and prime both of them to prove my point.
This isn't favoritism or loyalty to any company. I'm just saying, some of these companies have superior sculpts under their plain, sloppy, $10 retail paint jobs.
