Because Michael Jackson's memorial is not the only high profile event hosted at the staples center (and many other places)which will require state/city resources. There are hundreds of such events each year which are comparable to one degree or another (hello.. NBA finals?). I think it shows more evidence of people over-reaching to create event news around something which is not necessarily news worthy yet.

Are you actually serious? The NBA finals requiring state/city resources? All of the security provided is by off duty cops who are getting paid by the Staples Center and/or LA Lakers. STOP DRINKING THE KOOL AID please.

Thats not what I am talking about. I am talkikng about the after parties, rioting and such.

I'm sure the city actually profits from the NBA Finals and those other events, though.

The problem is this memorial is costing the city anywhere between $1 million and $4 million at a time when city employees are getting pink slips every day because of budget cuts, yet the families and close friends (who have millions) of MJ have yet to fit any of the bill. You don't see why that raises some eyebrows?

My goodness. Some of you guys are the flipside of the emtional melt down you are accusing kuzeh of being. :lol

No, some of us just like to speak about the correct facts instead of making ^^^^ up.

Your previous analogy would only has a speck of truth if there were riots and after parties tonight requiring tax payer resources.

Well maybe we missed something and the rioting was a planned, staged event that the city hosted officially. :lol

What was I making up. I was speculating on what I thought and in the absence of anything besides IJ's posting of someone blogifying facts I am a sceptic. I am not saying it is something or it isn't something. Just saying I have yet to read anything to convince me enough to get all riled up like you are. :D

That's exactly what I took from it, after the Finals there was a big increase in police presence downtown to keep any civil disturbances in check.

For the Lakers parade they did the same. Private parties donated money to the city of L.A. to cover the costs. I'm sure people will donate to cover the costs of this as well, hope that makes you feel better and you can sleep at night 316what.

Its still one person's speculation about funding for an event which didn't even end more than a few hours ago. It smacks of sensationalism to me at this early stage. Not sure why some of y6ou are getting all riled up and offended though. :dunno

I am just saying maybe its a bit early to be proclaiming doom and gloom and gathering the mob for a lynching. Yeah?

:monkey1

:lol I'm fine... just discussing the issues. And I'm also not one of the ones calling names and unnecesarily making it personal with other board members. You tell me who's riled up. :lol

Also, the AP report on the city asking for donations to help pay for this (fact) is "sensationalism"? Huh? And even if it were (which it isn't) at worst it would just match everything else involved with this whole thing. You saw true sensationalism if you turned on your TV today or followed anything in the media over the past week.

Irish, again... seriously...
you don't even live in California... WTF? :dunno
Isn't anything fun over there you can do instead of being "rational" here?...
:lol:lol

We all know you're here Trolling...
I think people are still talking crap about HT's Silk Specter... why don't you post there instead?
