I just saw a clip of the daughter (Paris, I think?) speaking... Yeah, that was pretty devastating. :( But who was it that told her to "speak up!" and put the mic closer to her? Was that Janet?? IMHO, that was pretty wrong and extremely uncomfortable. But then, it's the Jacksons.

My heart did break for that little girl. :(
Yes that was Janet and I thought the same. I saw just that bit and felt for the little girl.

I think that was Latoya. Janet was in back with the hat.
Nah, Latoyah had the big hat, Janet had the beret type hat and told her to speak up.
x :peace

From what I saw, Paris wanted to say something at the end. I heard them say Janet was going to say something and suddenly his daughter looked like she wanted the mic.
If you did not have a lump in your throat after that, then you must be emotionally dead.
I think for me it was a fitting end to Michael's legacy.

do you guys think after this tradjety they will make more figure's in honor of Mj i really want a black micheal from thriller. and yes the daughter's speech was a tear jerker.

I just watched Usher's performance again. I never much cared for him, but seeing him break down at the end of the song was pretty sad. You never get to see this side of people in videos and interviews, but it showed how "human" some of these celebreties really are.

No kid should have to go through that. No matter what your opinion of MJ, that sucks for that little girl. Plus, he's the only parent she really knew, which makes it that much worse.

Hopefully. I've been hoping for this ever since I first saw the HIStory HT figure.

Didn't get to watch it live since I was at work. Watching it now and I don't see anything tasteless about the presentation at all. All tax issues aside (which I am not really convinced are a real issue) I thought it was moving and tastefully done.

I agree 100%.

As Latifah said, this is a memorial for the "Biggest Star in the World". How can people not clap and take pictures, Michaels entire lifetime was filled with applause and bathed in camera flash.

Because Michael Jackson's memorial is not the only high profile event hosted at the staples center (and many other places)which will require state/city resources. There are hundreds of such events each year which are comparable to one degree or another (hello.. NBA finals?). I think it shows more evidence of people over-reaching to create event news around something which is not necessarily news worthy yet.
