the head still isn't smooth though like it should be. the suit stinks and the eyes look a bit freaky
saw it in person and head texture not discernible at small 1/6 scale...suit looked good, too...but you right, eyes freaky (in a good, realistic, and intense way)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Are you some sort of undercover Hot Toys agent tasked with mind washing us that this new figure is actually good??? lol

But seriously - I said I like the cowl - I've never had an issue with it
my issue is with the body / armour.
Medicom figure aside, the HT body is not accurate in terms of proportions and how it should look - a mesh suit with armour plates on top

Haha, no! :lol Merely a fan in California.

I just really dig this figure...I have seen it at a show and it is smokin'.:emperor

I know some are very upset with this thread and want to close it. So I hope I am not being obnoxious by continuing to post here. It's been perplexing for me watch the DX Batman take such a beating throughout this thread...some of the criticism strikes me as casual drive-by insulting. Strange to me that people would react with such resentment toward good craftsmanship. Funny world we live in...

It's easy to criticize but much harder to innovate. And Hot Toys is pushing the innovation. I say the same about Enterbay, so it's not a Hot Toys fetish.

And just out of curiousity, YellowJoshua, if you had to pick between two extremes, A or B, which would you prefer:

A: DK Batman with perfect body proportions but a less than perfect portrait...

or

B: DK Batman with less than perfect body proportions but a perfect portrait?

I would definitely choose "B". These DX head sculpts are like tiny little artistic masterpieces. Getting a facial likeness is very hard for even a good artist. I believe it is these stunning portraits that really sell so many of us on the HT products...the likeness to the actors and characters we all enjoy so much...not whether the body is a millimeter too wide or not.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Said it before and I'll say it again, and again and again because it's the truth. ONLY reason why people like the Medicom TDK Batman is because it's slim. That's it. I doubt you'd find anyone who prefered the Medicom figure over either the HT v1 or DX if either of those figures were equally as slim. Funniest part is the Medicom chest plate looks just as big if not bigger than the v1 and DX figure. :lol

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Medicom had a pretty good headsculpt. Definitely better than the HT V1 TDK.

Its not just that it's thin. The suit construction LOOKS accurate. The HT version does not. :banana (cuz my wife told me to... and she thinks i'm a dork after reading that....:duh)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I still see flaws with the Medicom figure though. Especially with the stock figure but even with the HEAVILY modified ones too. The chest plate shape for instance is completely wrong. Nothing you can do to modify that either. It's completely round.

Agreed on the chest piece, no doubt. But I see serious flaws even with the DX chest piece, it's too square, but closer to the right size

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

But in order to get a more accurate bodysuit(aside from the chest plate which is off) didn't Medicom have to sacrifice movement of the Medicom Bats figure? Only because I can't remember anyone posing that figure on these boards other than just standing it up looking straight ahead...?

So true. It's nice to actually talk with someone you can agree with for once. An honest opinion. It was mainly the abs area and belt that won it for me. Hot Toys belt is crazily overlarge causing a huge off look. Oh darn I said this again!

Yeah to a huge degree it's nasty. It's a very rigid figure. Sometimes it feels that rigid making you think... is this going to buckle or snap. It makes the Takara look very maneuverable. It's very poor at standing. Magnuz would probably know more about it. If anyone he'll find the limits. It's gauntlets are quite crappy, they wont rotate on the Medicom. When the arms bend it gets tighter and tighter creating a springy like action to slowly pop back to it's place. The waist and legs aren't all that tight though. There's quite a bit of play there.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

This has probably been said before, but I think the shape of the cowl on the dx batman should be slimmer. It looks a little wide in that pic compared to the movie. Maybe its just the camera angles.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

It's just the camera angle. Go to the first page, look at all the cowl shots and tell me you think it's still too wide.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

There doesn't seem to be a right or wrong look with the cowl. So many scenes it's quite wide, other scenes it's thin so it must be a very thin rubber causing his face to bunch up in certain positions elongating it.

The cowl also has a terrible terrible effect with lighting as well. Some scenes or shots it looks right others it's wrong. It's a very crazy style of mask creating all weird and wonderful illusions with lighting. No?

Maybe that's the what Nolan and crew intended.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Is the TDK cowl really made of rubber, I dunno it just seems to look harder than that, almost like a helmet...or is the rubber part of the mask on the inside for some measure of facial comfort and the hard 'shell' of the cowl the outside? It's been a while since I've seen the movie.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

It is made out of thick black foam latex

Yes, very true. Depending on the lighting, angle, camera lense, etc., the DK cowl is a hard shape to get a grip on. It can look very intimidating and awesome, (like in the movie's Joker interrogation sequence), or kind of awkward, (like in some of the stock publicity photos). It's subleties are probably very challenging for any sculptor to capture at 1/6 scale.

I remember people really making fun of the DK movie costume when the first pictures started surfacing months before DK was in theaters...everyone was calling him "lightbulb head". But I think the movie was so forceful and unapologetic that nobody cared once you were in the theater...and now maybe we all just associate the DK costume with that very convincing and unforgettable movie-going experience from last summer. (Nothing this summer came close to being as engrossing as Dark Knight...at least not for me).

As much as I like the HT v2, I will say I can see the merits of the Medicom. And some of the modifications I have seen by Vodoun and others are impressive. I don't think it looks alot like Bale under the mask, but it does have it's strengths.

But a bonehead like me doesn't have the time or know-how for all that re-working, and I hope all the Medicom fans can recognize the "out-of-the-box" appeal of the HT v2 for an average shopper like myself.

How long would the delay through them be though? I am feeling the pain on the DX01 wait so badly and it barely just came out a week or so ago but it tortures me like an eternity. I am not sure I can bare this if the wait were more than a month after the HK release
also anyone has any feedback on these guys?
