Thats true man, I agree. We got the Wolf then the Cleaner, but with that we were missing other plasma caster and poseable whip. I guess my statement was more about Iron Man himself. This i'll be like the fourth crack at him, counting Mark II??, Mark III, and BD Mark III. I just saw the trailer for Iron man 2 last night, and thats why I was all excited :) But yea i'll remain cautiously optomistic for them :peace

I am new at this (yeah and I say it over and over again) but it almost seem to me that their improvements is more of an overall trend in their skills and design as some of the 1-2yr old figures really would not have swayed me into this addiction

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Some of their figures are their quality because of evolution in their skills, some of them are because they rush in. I truly believe that other than PERS and sonar eyes, nothing with the DX Batman or Joker was beyond their capability a year ago when the first figures came out, they were rushed, based off limited reference, and just not the level of accurracy HT is capable of. Similarly with the Wolf form AVPR, the differences were so minimal between figures, they either intentionally did things that way, or they, and I believe in this, again rushed to have the figure done and details that were more prevalent on screen were missed in the first release so they capitalized and released another. Unfortunately, sales wise, it doesn't hurt them to rush, be wrong and do it right later, and I enjoy these figures and do want the best so I can't bring myself to not buy the improved ones, but it does frustrate me with them. For better or worse, at least with Sideshow, once they do it, that's it, not getting repeated so even if you're not thrilled with the result, at least you know you didn't spend money on an inferior figure that'll be bested within a year. That's the other thing that sort of frosts me with the HT improvements, they're done within short time frames, not like say the 2005 Batman Begins figure and the 2008 one where there was 3 years of serious developments for HT. At least there, folks enjoyed the first figure for years, and plus the new one can reach folks, like myself, who never heard of Hot Toys in 2005 and didn't even own the original.

^Agreed man, it does hurt when the newer release comes out and you feel like you've spent money for the inferior version. Just wish it was like sideshow, that once its out. that it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Don't be, be prepared of HT to develop them too early, miss something in the details and release a second version later. I'm pretty skeptical of Hot Toys doing figures before a film's release after AVPR and TDK, they always end up missing some bit that seeing the film would let them know they need to do or give better reference, and good news for those wanting the best, you eventually get it, but it takes 2-3 figures to get there where if they waited a bit, they could do it in 1, and people don't need film release hype to buy HT figures, they could come out months after and still sell.

Hot Toys are fantastic figures and I don't care if they miss some stuff on the V1. Not a huge 1:6 collector but to me I never worry 'Should I buy this figure now or wait until there is a V2 or a DX'. Nice if they'd get it first time.

Batman is an exception.:monkey5

Same here, their old figures while cool and loaded with accersories like the USMC Marines, first T-800 BD, first Kyle Resse etc a didnt really attract me cuz of likeness issues, etc.; as much as say as their newer stuff TDK, Terminator Salvation, Iron Man and all the other stuff they are releasing.

I agree. I buy what I want. A improved version comes along, I decide if I want it or not. IMO no big deal.

I hope the Iron Man 2 figures are slimmer like this DX. The descriptions from everyone involved about the bodies is that the Mark IV-VI are slimmer and more form fitting to Stark than the Mark III was so it'd be actually accurate that way.

I wonder if this is going to already use the new TT
I may be imagining things cause I never really explored the range of movement of the current TTs but the new TT is able to bend the upper and lower arms until they are parallel so I can hold rifles tighter and easily grab the head etc... but might just be cause all my other figures are fully clothed... gotto do some comparison when I get home
Oh Shaun already did the work :)

This beats the crap out of the V1...wow this looks to be one of the best figures EVER! Can't wait!

Like what I see. A definite improvement. Gun is nutz. And that PERS tool is intriguing. Seems they forgot to glue on the kneecaps, but I'm sure that will be taken care of. Otherwise, looking forward to receiving this Bad Boy in May.

Oh dang this reminds me I still have the unmodded Medi around :D

Sickness.

HT TDK DX Batman > Medicom TDK Batman

*runs away*

Im really started to regret buying my Medicom Batman..........

I still want pictures from other angles. It looks pretty cool in that ONE picture and you can tell they made some big improvements (The arms arent huge like they used to be and he looks a bit thinner) but im not really sold just yet. Still really nice

Functionally, I see no changes with the new TT, just improved, possibly worsened anatomical changes (filled in neck area). I don't imagine this new Batman is on it, especially when parts of the first one were unique, the calve section of the legs and the forearms as well were smaller than a standard TT. I imagine this is on some smaller body that just best suits keeping the proportions smaller, and I don't think you can do that with a standard body, it needs a custom built one.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

you probably right. They have to adjust parts of the body to achieve those new proportions. can't wait to get .. geez ...... all of them :p

The thing is, this figure can be displayed as is. At most.. people might modify the cape. And since the cape is already removable, that will require little to no effort.

The Medicom TDK Batman (for my taste) needs MAJOR modification to look good. And even then there's still flaws that can't be fixed namely the huge chest that's shaped wrong and the ginormous thunder thighs. The latter mod involves having to cut the suit apart at the waist in order to fix and even then the "fix" isn't all that great. Cape has to be cut off. The head has to be modified. You need to put in a lot of work, and even then imo it STILL doesn't look as good as this figure which is right out the box. Vodun has the best Medicom TDK Batman out there imho.. but it just doesn't compare with this figure. Especially the head sculpt vs. the PERS head/Sonar head from HT. And based off one pic (The HT Backstage pic) this figure looks WAY better. Add to that all the accessories and you have a superior product.

I said before the only thing the Medicom figure had over the HT one was it was thinner. That was it. Now that the DX Batman is thinner, you cancel that out and it comes down to quality/accessories.

HT TDK DX Batman > Medicom TDK Batman
