Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I have a feeling neither of my 2 orders are going to be filled. I've had one on order at DCBS for months and they said they are waiting on more stock to fill my order (I don't know where they're going to get more stock from) and I ordered one on gohastings the other day as I'm not convinced the DCBS order will ever get filled. Both of these were great prices now I feel like I'm getting screwed and will have to pay around $200 for one.

I guess I did get the last one! Now I have 2 batmans coming my way.

You'll be very happy you got them. I was on the fence because of the oily abs discussions but when I got mine I was blown away. (Also no oily abs.) Best Batman figure ever! Plus with all the extra cool gear included you can't help but to want do up a few display versions.

...just had an odd thought. Has anyone ever bought (or would they) one of these Hot Toys figures for a kid to actually play with? For me these are works of art like pose-able statues and for display. So as selfish as it may seem I don't think I ever could get one for a child...on the other hand how cool a parent would you be! LOL

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

It's not selfish... some of these figures would be dangerous in the hands of a child... they could easily snap something!

I wouldn't give one to a child. Because other than the obvious of small parts or sharp points causing injury if ingested or something they're too fragile and they wouldn't appreciate it. If anything I would buy it for them and then say they can do what they wan't with it when they're a little older to appreciate what it is and not toss it around their room like a bargain bin toy!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

That's kinda my thinking also. I kind of negated the whole fragile, pointy sharp, and small parts in the post because it was more of a hypothetical question focusing on the appearance of the figures rather than functionality/durability aspect. So please don't think my potential future children will be running around with these figures.

exactly. My son is 2 (Even a 10 year old would be too young IMO) and he's got a ton of toys...however most don't value $25 let alone $200! He has the 12 inch action cape Batman and he loves it. Thing takes a beating too! :lol

Some day, if my collection is still intact, and he is interested, he may inherit it, but that's a ways off...:wink1:

These are really more akin to museum miniatures than toys. Museums often do these sorts of scale mixed media miniatures for displays. Hot Toys is probably better at it than most museums though.

I have toys as well, so I don't see anything wrong with an adult owning toys, just statues and 1/6 scale stuff are not toys. The 1/6 scale figures these days are more akin to models. So they're made for older kids and early teens just as much as they are for adults. Although I guess most kids can't afford to spend $150 on a model.

Yeah, no way. Safety issues aside... people get aneurysms when one of their HTs falls off a shelf, worried it will be destroyed. Imagine the sight of your child holding a DX Batman in one hand, and a DX Joker in the other, banging them into each other to have them fight?

They are not really toys and they are not for children. They are for serious collectors.

Hot Toys = Museum pieces
Others = Movie Room pieces

Define "child". I have a two-year-old son, and he'd tear it to shreds. Its impractical ... kids don't care about accuracy or authenticity, they want durability. If he's going to beat it to hell anyway, I'd rather get him a $20 plastic one. That's close enough for a kid.

But, when he's 13, I'd probably consider it. He can graduate into more expensive toys if he'd like them. He can get even more when he gets job and can pay for them by his bloody self.

I think they're cool trinkets, but I'm not really on the "works of art" bandwagon. It is a fancy toy for grown-up kids with jobs.

Hmm, I think they could be classed as work of art. The work that must go into them and the end results are outstanding.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Naw, they're replicas of things. Replicas aren't works of art. imo anywho.

Thank god. No I don't know many teenagers that have £150+ and if they did most are too busy out getting blitzed and buying drugs instead. Skint and stoned out of their minds trying to steal more money off the next person for more drugs.

Man, your high school must have been pretty screwed up. :lol

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

You have no idea. Everybody wanted to be a smoker at 12/13 doing drugs 14/15+ it's like a culture. UK is pretty messed up when it comes to kids/teenagers etc.

Personally I would love to get out of this crap hole.
