no manslaughter, just trying to clear things up cause I am curious to know how he did the mod without using the rubber piece and without glueing

limitations of board messages, its not like a real conversation where you can get live feedback...

Vodoun, when I asked you about oil/dampness you told me to use a damp cloth over the spot, and now your saying to use a soft paint brush, which should I use and which is better in your opinion, also do you recomend a make-up brush?

Biceps, yes. Abdominal plates, no. All fabric would do over time if you keep maintaining it with a cloth is it would buff up the plastic plates. Over time even if they are dry with the constant maintenance the fabric would bring it to a shine.

Damp cloth for biceps. Small soft brush of any form for the abdominal plates.

I did the TT neck mod for exploration/testing purpose and moed right on to the DX neck and it holds just fine as you can see DX second from teh right....

(hope I dont get into trouble posting this again )

Maybe it's just I don;t pose any action poses with my DX and hence the arms don't get to the neck?

I wish I had a DX damnit!! Why do weddings have to be so expensive lol!!

Please bring up the next witness in the case of The People vs Geil's DX Mod

Facts are:
- initial statement "...experimenting on a TT[*] neck first and then moving on[**] to the DX ones"
*TT is for TrueType body which is HT's naked figure bodies sold seperately
** "moving on" as in moved on to experiment on the DX neck
- the farthest right is my Medi-MMS hybrid with Medi body and HT chest, shoulder, belt, fattened Medi neck and Seb-repainted head
- the second from the right is DX everything with modded neck as I said, a
- all using custom capes some from Ilforigno some from myself
- MMS TDK head is in DX Sonar Bats hands also Seb-ified

Finally managed to crack that spare DX02 neck open today!! Had to soak it in boiling water to soften it up for a good while first after every other attampt had failed...
I ended up doing Geil's mod suggestion of just taking out the rubber socket and doing nothing else to it. Works really well too! Not a drastic change in neck height, but enough to make it look a lot more natural.
I'm really plaesed with it now - thanks Geil!

Finally managed to crack that spare DX02 neck open today!! Had to soak it in boiling water to soften it up for a good while first after every other attampt had failed...
I ended up doing Geil's mod suggestion of just taking out the rubber socket and doing nothing else to it. Works really well too! Not a drastic change in neck height, but enough to make it look a lot more natural.

Thats not a bad mod if you dont want to chop off the inside wall of the neck!
The neck is a bit shorter than stock for sure!

But if you really want to mod it shorter, you can do so so that the 2nd ring of the neck is gone, I marked the ring in red, thats the part that you should not see or should be almost gone...
In my pic you cannot see that ring/rib anymore.

If you consider doing that more extreme mod, you will have to cut off the inner wall, replace it by a coin that you place slightly higher up the neck + attach the rubber part again to keep the neck from popping up due to the internal mechanisms of the arm.
Because if you dont keep the rubber part the neck will not stay that deep in my modification.

At the moment I'm quite happy with it, it does look a lot shorter in person, but I was very tempted to do this mod earlier. I tried to find a coin that would fit but our smallest coin (5p piece) was actually too big to fit so I'd have to find something different...

I did not do my sonar neck but will likely do it when gain access to my detolfs back.

Did you have to glue the neck together again or did you just leave it as is.

Is the neck really floppy inside the neck cavity?

Nope - didn't have to glue it at all, it clicks back together perfectly.
It is slightly loose inside the neck but not a massive amount.
Can't post pics cos I'm on my iPhone right now but I did post some a page or two back
