Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Your top two abdominal plates look a little damp. Thats how one of mine went.

hmm thx for the heads up...

what can I do about it?
and how did your figure end up?

edit: I noticed there is a bit of left over platic on top of his belt...:slap
You can see it clearly on the flashed pictures

I don't have a solution for it sadly. I tried a little bit of tissue folded behind the belt out of sight. It never glistens but it darkens a little. Every 2 - 4 days I run it over with a soft dry paint brush that clears it up back to the nice dry matte look.

aha okay.
And how long did you have your figure?

June 11 or there about. It only started showing damp parts a few weeks ago.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I got a new DX Batman recently. All looks well so far, I'm pretty sure he's genuinely "new" (his sonar neck has that little tab of plastic in it) but there's a small mark on one of his facial expressions. Any thoughts? Should an Ebay seller be dinged for not mentioning this? Should I just live and let live? Be interested to hear your thoughts.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

if the ebay seller is a shop like a hong kong dealer then i doubt its his fault - he'll just get them in and ship them out he dosent need to open them all. if its a second hand sell on and it wasnt mentioned and sold as "new" then u cud have a query. however, is the mark on a facial expression u are gonna use a lot? is it really noticable? is it worth the hassle of going thru ebay?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Congrats on the neck Mod WM, looks awesome. :hi5:

Hands down the most important thing that figure needs to make it go from good to excellent.

Still have to do mine as soon as I get the second magnet neck. :impatient:

1. where does the seller live, the farther he lives, the more the shipping cost it will be, wich you will have to pay since he will say you pay for returns...and he has the right to do so.

2. can you live with that mark on 1 of the faces?

3. if that 1 mark is the only fault on the figure, you have to decide for yourself if its worth all of the (shipping)cost and the wait to contact the seller for a refund or a replacement. Like yellowjoshua said: is it worth the hassle of going thru ebay?

Whatever you do, it cant hurt if you just ask the seller what he can do about it!
You can for instance ask for a replacement face part?
Ask a small refund?
Ask for a discount or something for when you buy with him next time?
....seek out what is possible with your seller.
But again you gotta ask yourself, is it worth it all? Is it the face you would use on the figure?

With this figure I believe that a seller cannot see ALL the issues it has, since it is a figure with many parts + many hidden parts = under a plastic + many people dont want packages that were already opened.
So either the customer want a perfect figure but they the seller should be able to investigate a figure in detail, either a customer wants an unopend package but than customers should be aware that a seller cannot check if the figure is 100% mint.
Of course, if the issue is visible at first sight...you got a ground against the seller. But still, if that is the only issue, it would be hard and you got to ask yourself AGAIN, is it worth all the hastle?

If thats the only issue he certainly didnt do anything so wrong that you can claim a refund or a return, thats for sure.
But you can try the options I pointed out.

But I actually think the seller and/or ebay rules give the right to the customer to return the product within X-days!
So if you really cannot live with it, you can always return it withing x-days...

So I suggest you contact your seller asap and dont waist time on boards and waiting on replies otherwise you could lose some rights.
Because it would be very easy if you could return your products whever you want and demand a refund :cuckoo:

Maybe you can post a picture of the mark on the face?

Well, the thing is, the box had been opened and inspected before shipping. It's not like it was factory sealed from Hot Toys, so I feel he should have known about the mark. Seems kind of lame not to mention it, so yeah, I might say something to him about it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Isn't Commtech always saying to use a needle nose pliers?

Stick it in there and us it to pry apart the to halves of the neck.

I never tried his plier method as I started this mod before him experimenting on a TT neck first and then moving on to the DX ones. I just used a knife to crack open the seam. He did take it one step further by not just removing the socket but also the inner wall and created a new one with the dime but I think just removing the rubber socket already shortens the neck enough for me and I can reverse the mod easily.
There really is not a chance of any real damage and even if you are rough on it you may ding the inside tab a little but it's not visible when you glue it back. I didn't even bother glueing it back together as it holds together fine. Of cause without the socket the head comes off easily but not loose so it will fall out. I have since done the same mod for my IM M3BD

Wow, thanks for the update on an already excellent much needed mod :hi5:

This is why I believe that 1/6 collectors are a friendly bunch :rock

Most anyways :lol

But I won't be cutting any arm rubber that's for certain :lol

I wouldn't too, if everybody could see it :)

still, I would like to see a picture to see how grave the issue is :)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Vodoun, when I asked you about oil/dampness you told me to use a damp cloth over the spot, and now your saying to use a soft paint brush, which should I use and which is better in your opinion, also do you recomend a make-up brush?

hmm so you did not do the mod on the DX? I assume it is different from the TT neck (whatever that is....)

I have learned that you will have to reuse the rubber socket.
If you do not use the rubber socket, the neck will jump upwards and you can even see the arms moving when it jumps up :)
If you look inside the figure down the neck area you see the insides of the arms wich reach very far almost to the ball where the neck would go.
This is the function of the rubber socket, it holds tight to the ball keeping the neck in place, because the inside of the arms have force on the neck.
Its a strange design.

The modificaton moves the rubber socket more to the center of the neck, wich causes the neck to sit deeper in the body.
If you dont use the rubber the neck will never sit tight in place as deep as you want, and it will pop outside and you will have a real long neck.

The coin is used as a border where the rubber socket is placed against to.
Without the coin, the rubber sits freely in the neck and you can never pull the rubber over the ball.
The coin is actually a new border placed more to the center of the neck wheres the old one is more at the bottom of the neck.

Bottom line, do keep the rubber to keep the neck in place!
And get a coin upon wich the rubber leans on.
And because of those parts, you will have to glue it together again!

lol :) the question is so simple its funny.
What should I use to clean oil a cloth or a brush :)

cloth, brush, whatever.
Get something to remove the oilyness :)
Just try it yourself and see what is the most efficient.
Of course a cloth would absorbe more liquid than a brush I would think...

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I did the TT neck mod for exploration/testing purpose and moed right on to the DX neck and it holds just fine as you can see DX second from teh right....
shutup.jpg

(hope I dont get into trouble posting this again :p)

Maybe it's just I don;t pose any action poses with my DX and hence the arms don't get to the neck?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

hmm must be missing something....

but you did not mod a DX neck you said first? or did you?
And if you did, did you put the moed DX neck on a DX body?

Because the far right is a MMS batman, the second from the right is a DX body but not a DX neck so it seems....

So I dont see a DX neck on a DX body :)

edit: whats a TT neck?

Sounds like Geil is on trial for neck manslaughter or something...:lol

Please bring up the next witness in the case of The People vs Geil's DX Mod :lol
