Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

That's what I thought! But the more 1:4 figures that come out which I already have in 1:6 the more I think about selling. I mean, I already have terminator, Batmen are coming from Enterbay and HT and Dutch from HT too. That's pretty much all my 1:6 collection!

I'll still keep the odd 1:6 but I think the collection may be downsized :lecture

I think that the great part is that, when you see the inflation of the secondary market, it's actually plausible to cover the entire cost of a 1/4th replacement with it's 1/6th counterpart. I think that 1/6th will always be around, for the simple fact that it's been around for so long, and that it's such a convenient scale, but I think that 1/4th was the next logical step; give collectors all of the 1/6th features in a scale that provides a better venue for detail, however, I think that this is probably as far as it goes without becoming inconvenient.

The 1/6 scale obsolete, never thought I'd see the day.

I hope this 1/4 thing is just a fad. Enterbay, look at what you've done. :gah:

I used to think 'well at least with 1/6 you get a bigger variety of characters - at 1/4 you'll only get 1 or 2 iconic versions in any one license'....now I'm not so sure. If it really takes off is there anything stopping HT making just about every 1/6er they've done in 1/4 aswell?

As I said, 1/6th will never be obsolete, but for certain characters, it'd be nice to have the larger scale. You can't tell me that you wouldn't at least be tempted by the prospect of a 1/4th Nicholson & Keaton, but that being said, screw all of this, I want a 1/1 collection so that I can roll my toys into Madame Tussaud's and boast about how mine are articulated.:lol

The funny part is, 1:1 does nothing for me, nor 1:2. :dunno

Yet 1/4 is very exciting, no different than the very popular line of 1/4 PF statues from SS.

I always looked at those and asked why not HT!

Way overdue if you ask me.

Yup, as I mentioned in another thread, all they're doing is combining 1/6th features with PF Scale. I'll be honest, though, in regards to the T-800, I've oft wondered what the PETA blowhards would do about the leather outfit if the media ever got hold of him like Steve Jobs. I could see it now:"Animals weren't put here for your amusement!Just say no to T-Eight-Oh-Oh!"

Yeah but we're finally getting 1/6 versions.

For me it's like, at what point do you say, "okay, I have enough". What happens when you finally get all those great grail pieces that you never thought would come to be? I'm pretty much there after some of this Batman and Terminator stuff. Then when you see, "OH, NOW we're making 1/4 versions or updating the 1/6" and it just never feels like enough and you feel compelled to buy them too because they're "better". I know I could always sell off what I have to make way for the "new" stuff, but how long before the "new" stuff becomes old too and gets replaced? I buy to keep but I'm running/ran out of room.

I've been collecting for a long time and it still amazes me how far these things have come. I'm getting to the point now where it feels overexposed like there's too much stuff.

I have come pretty damn close to getting the Enterbay 1/4 T-800, I even had it on order for a while, but I just can't do it. In the last three years I went from having hardly any "good" Terminator collectibles to getting flooded with great stuff and it's hard to keep up with. If I were to get a 1/4 figure (I have a few NECA ones) from these high end companies it would have to be only one or two. Probably some kind of Batman and one other. I can't commit, no room left.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I want mostly 1/6 but some 1/4 as my centerpieces.

For me, 1/4 Batman 89, 1/4 Batman Begins, 1/4 IM, 1/4 Cap, 1/4 Thor, 1/4 Hulk, 1/4 Hawkeye, 1/4 BW, 1/4 Fury.

And I'm done. :lol

I'm sure I had similarly restricted plans when I started 1/6th.

For real. When my Tumbler box arrived in 2009, I told myself "ok, this is getting a little out of hand now. This is the *ultimate* Batman collectible anyway, so now is a good time to quit."

Three years later, and I'm telling myself I will be done after I get everything from the Batman 1989 license, and a select few from the TDKR license.

C'mon, just one more hit...I can quit anytime I want to man!

All the time in the world :D

Awwww man. But seriously....I can't do this for much longer. Its expected of me that I participate in the production of young humans at some point. And I hear theres quite a lot of expense attached to that.

You can't sell those on ebay or in the marketplace section, let me tell you.

Even though I'm in my prime not even thinking in terms of kids I can't help but think how great it would be to share all this stuff I have with them, if they were interested of course (not like I'd force it on them). Then again, I'm way too selfish to have children. Plus, the world is going to ____ in my opinion. Who would want to raise a child through this?

Dammit that was going to be my ultimate recourse if/when it became too much...

Then again, I'm way too selfish to have children.

Right now, so am I. I'm gonna have to stop the collecting completely before I have a kid just to get used to the idea of depriving myself.
