Ok so..

What's down:
Kate's facebook
Twitter account
MB Facebook account
Pinterest account
YouTube account (was it ever up?)

What's still up:
Mother's Basement webshop
The Danger Room blog
Liam's facebook
Google+ page
Instagram account
Feefo feedback page

Could this be.. because they were receiving a lot of negative feedback on these pages that are now down.. and wanted to protect their brand? And the removal of Kate's FB page was because, if I remember correctly, she was being harassed?

Edit: Feefo page not down.

Are we seeing the start of the end?

If it's not and they have shut down all social media and external selling outlets for other reasons without notifying customers then they are just hurting their business further.

Any company worth anything would have realised that there would be negativity on social media from the people not getting their goods after final payment had been taken and proactively assured people though email / notice via their website / earlier removal of eBay items etc.

Unfortunately, it seems that they would rather firstly ignore customers concerns and then when it all started getting to them start a backlash against the complaining customers and try to persuade people that it is unacceptable to expect your items a month after paying the final balance with no real explanation other than "we have a lot of items to send out"

I don't understand how this all happened, I've ordered a few things from them and received them, so they aren't fraudsters as far as I can tell

But there are lot of unhappy customers in this thread and I don't understand how they got to this point. Hopefully they aren't gone, I have a few things on pre-order, nothing I can't afford to lose if it ever got to that point

But in any case, I really wouldn't like to see a UK seller disappear

I have mentioned this to afew people on FB, it would be worth contacting your card companies to inform them of the possible situation, if they open a case you should be covered. In the UK they would have to go through official procedures if they are closing after they do that then getting money back can be more difficult. Paypal covers you for 45 days however some card companies cover you for up to 2 years depending on your credit agreement. Its just about being aware and covering your back in a financial sense.

This is no disrespect to MB infact I bought my Avengers thor from them, But I would surgest you be aware and take measures to protect yourself. if you need any advice or you are new to this sort of thing PM me and I will help where I can.

Someone on OSR's facebook page called them and.. well.. read for yourselves:

"Better get claiming guys, just rang the customer services number and it's true, Mothers Basement have been forced to cease trading due to financial difficulties as at 9am today. All I can say is W. T. F. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news..."

Right so they are officially gone.

Mother’s Basement has been forced to cease trading as and from Monday February 3rd 2014 due to financial difficulties.

Any customers who have outstanding orders with Mother’s Basement and haven’t received a dispatch confirmation or have previously requested a refund but have not received it are advised that you contact your card provider immediately to seek a full refund. If you paid by credit card and the order was over £100, your purchase is covered by section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. If you paid by credit card and the order value was under £100 or you paid by debit card, you are advised to place a chargeback with the card issuer to reclaim the funds. If you paid by Paypal, you are advised to contact PayPal or your card provider if the transaction was funded with your registered credit or debit card.

More information about Section 75 and chargebacks can be found by clicking here

Trade creditors of Mother’s Basement will be contacted individually by February 17th 2014

Sorry guys :(

Neil

EDIT - Damn beaten by seconds ;) lol

well as I paid for my pre orders with paypal balance over 45 days ago ive lost that money (£90). they are scum, they lied and lied about having a huge order to get out which was utter bull****, blaming people for slagging them off when they cut and ran with a lot of peoples hard earned cash, they knew this was coming as the went a limited company about a month ago, yet still kept feeding people the same lies. now it is too late for a lot of people to get their money back, I know some one who has spent over £500 with them and has nothing to show for it. how anyone can defend them is beyond me. im livid, and they have got away scott free.

wow shocking indeed, seems like something was up after that whole fuss a month or two ago but don't think anyone would have guessed it was going to end like this.. i really hope everyone can get their money back, i've never bought with them myself - every time i went on their site 90% of things were out of stock which i always thought was odd..

Yep looks like this was a planned thing. They must have had financial problems but rather than close business they choose to recoup their losses from our community. They continued to take preorders ( did someone order something in stock and get delayed too ? ) to collect as much cash as possible before officially announcing closure.
Cozzie,
You mentioned above that they changed legal form into an LLC ? If that's correct than this is a well thought out plan . They are using the system to their advantage.
