Huge score fan here too. Last couple of years have been pretty weak though IMO. Nothing like the 80s, that's for sure.

One of the Best Movie Music ever! :rock

P!tu, your list is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! :rock
A lot of the themes went through my mind when reading your list.

I guess John Williams would be at the very top of my list, since it's usually those movies that I watched the most when growing up (Star Wars trilogy, ET, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones).

Nice, I am seriously considering picking this up.
Its $10 on iTunes.

Also the Will There Be Blood score.

LOVE the There Will Be Blood soundtrack. It's fantastic! My favourite in a long time. The only thing is that it feels a little incomplete when compared to the actual movie. I think there are some movements and a couple of classic pieces that were omitted.

I really like the music from Lost. I have the soundtrack albums from the first four seasons, with the fifth preordered for release next week. iTunes put it up a week early, but I'm holding out for the actual disc.

I'm really resisting the move towards downloading everything--I want a disc to play in the car, and a case to put it in, and nice cover art and liner notes, etc. And I don't mind paying a little more for it.

I know this is a little off topic for the movie score discussion but I want to give an honorable mention to composers Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan. Besides making music for tv, they have a very impressive video game score portfolio. One of my favorites that I WISH was released in any format is the score to the Rise of Cobra video game. I know, I know the movie is dog crap and Silvestri's score was less than fantastic but go here and listen to the main theme and tell me it's not everything the movie theme SHOULD have been!

then go portfolio > GI Joe > first column, fourth down

Here's a "making of" Doc from the game - listen for the original 80's theme song toward the end

Don't you hate it when soundtracks don't have some of your favourite pieces of music on them? This guy tried to assemble some of the missing music from the T2 soundtrack. I love the canal chase music, can't believe it never made it onto the album. It starts at 3:02 but is missing some bits because of the way he tried to isolate the music from the sound effects.

Couldn't agree more!

Its so frustrating!! I really dont understand why they cant just release the entire score from a film.

Its especially annoying when you buy a soundtrack specifically for one of the very pieces of music they for some reason to decided to leave off the album.
I remember being very disappointed in the Complete recordings of the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack - I really wanted the entire end credits including the music exactly as it plays over the fan club credits - alas it aint there. So I just stick to the initial album out of sheer annoyance.
But yeah the T2 soundtrack is one that I simultaneously love and hate - it certainly does have most of the good stuff but I really notice the absence of a few bits of music before the future war sequence where it shows the busy highway in the 'present day' (first shot in the film), the Terminators arrival, and then the aforementioned canal chase music. Far as I can tell the T1 soundtrack has everything short of those few 80s songs that play in the film.
I wish they'd do a Aliens Deluxe edition job on the T2 soundtrack but they probably think not enough people care.
