Yeah, it's ridiculous.

Meh. The thing with Zach is you never know what you're going to get. It's very hit or miss. Some look good ,some look sloppy and rushed, all are never very sophisticated. Accuracy be damned ,this looks more like Ledger to me, and it looks professional.

Not rushed and slopped together.

But I'm sure you'll tell me I'm wrong because you're an "expert".

I'm with you on that man. I love that paint app. It's the best I've seen this sculpt look. But to each his own.

This bump reminds me that I need to check where my head is at.

8-Bits craps all over it, high level skill, quality paint... A true master of his craft, not even a comparison between the two

Doesn't look like Ledger did at any moment in TDK and the hair is totally wrong, but again to each their own.

Well the hair just isn't styled in those pics which has nothing to do with the paint app. Presumably it's slicked back like that so you know he could like um...paint it. And the application itself looks remarkably similar to this scene which is a pretty big moment in TDK.

It's the sloppy hair apps . I noticed this with my 2nd MRM Joker .

Some heads he did a great job with the hair , others looked like dog kah kah.

This for instance looks like dog kah kah

:goodpost::exactly:
And it is the exact scene, I used for reference

We could go back an forth on this for ages, but I don't think there will ever be complete agreement. All I know is when I look at this:

I don't see this:

And that's my last thought on the subject.

Ledger's make-up never looked like this. It was messy and clumpy.

The lips and the eyes on this sculpt and too blended/smudged. There doesn't appear to be any definition of his features.

Yeah, 8 Bit has done some great stuff, but I don't think this is one of them. The whole face looks blurry, like it's an out of focus picture.

MRM's sculpts look best with MRM's paint, but that's not black or white. Sometimes, MRM's painted sculpts look almost like concrete, then sometimes they will look insanely lifelike. It's very hit or miss.

But repaints of his sculpts just never really look great to me. Even skiman, who I think does fantastic work, I wasn't a huge fan of his repaint. Like 8 Bit's, it looked too smooth.

^ Slightly disagree with you. Check out Nathan's paint of the MRM 4.0 Joker. Its insane and IMHO, none of MRM's work is even close to it. I think Marf commissioned it, there should be pics in his thread.

EDIT: I hope Nathan doesn't mind me posting his work here:

Also, before you judge David's (8-Bit) paintup its worth asking him whether the client requested for anything in particular or if he went ahead with his own personal touch (An artist's impression, which he is entitled to). It isn't that the client would have asked for something and he delivered something different.

Okay yeah, that's fantastic. I had a Dexter painted by him, and while pictures looked great, he looked 100x better in hand. So as good as Surfer's paint looks there, it must be amazing in hand.

There's definitely X factors that could come into play. But something about that application doesn't play off the sculpt well to me. Like I said, I think 8-Bit does great work, but this one wouldn't rank in the top for me.

I've often wondered how SS's stuff looks in hand. His photos give his paint-ups a "painterly" like quality. Like the colors are over-saturated??

I have only had one sculpt done by SS, so I'm not an expert. But I think that in photos, they often look like a painting in three dimensions - you know what the subject is, you know it's well done, but in the back of your head, you can't help but think "I'm seeing paint".

In hand, and 1:1 size (AKA not blown up 5-10x like they often are), his slight exaggeration of color serves the sculpt well. It defines features, mostly, but I also thought it helped the sculpt to not look washed out. I've had some other custom paint jobs that look good up close, but when you see them from ten feet away on your shelf, it looks like a cartoon character.

Agree with you there - That isn't a definitive Ledger portrait, but I have a hunch it was the customer that asked him to have it stylized or it was his own artists' impression at play.

Here's his latest paintup which kindof supports my earlier thought process about the quality of his work and how he could tackle this so well. Masterful!

No offense, but you're either crazy or need your vision checked. I've seen the 8Bit Joker repaints and this custom by Zach is a thousand times more screen accurate than any of his. Just look at the 2 pics and tell me which one actually looks like Ledger did in the movie.

Woah, I seem to have missed this. How old are you, 12 ? Be more respectful to people, fellow. You come across as a ******.
