She is married to Liam Neeson, the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave, sister to Joely Richardson and an actress best known for Nell, The Parent trap remake etc

They seem to have one of the more stable show business marriages.

So she apparently took a "harmless tumble", yet why would the ski instructor keep insisting she see a doctor from a harmless tumble and being described as in "perfect condition" ?

I pray that she will be okay. I am a big fan of her work in films, and of course her husband, Liam Neeson from Star Wars Ep. I, Batman Begins, Darkman, and now Taken. There seem to be too many tragic accidents with celebrities and high risk sports. Skiiing (this case, and Sonny Bono's tragic accident), and horse riding in competition (Christopher Reeve).

Not confirmed yet. But 'brain dead' is not actually 'dead' if your heart is still beating.

Prayers sent for her loved ones and family. Just from reading the article it doesn't sound like she was hurt at first. I wonder if they do an autopsy if they will find that she had an underlying problem in her brain that was just waiting for the right jolt to burst.

Very sad to hear this, I'm not as familiar with her, but obviously it is a very horrible thing for her and her family to endure.

I'm wondering this as well...

Didnt see this posted here.
I posted about it in the Star Wars section.
Very sad but very common.
Sonny Bono and one of the Kennedy kids died on the slopes.

That poor family. Neeson is obviously crushed and I can't even imagine what those poor boys are going through.

I never knew that Joely Richardson was her sister (the actress that plays Julia McNamara on Nip/Tuck) although in looking at them both there is definitely a resemblance...as Spartan Rex mentioned its semantics. The odds are very high that the family will pull the plug instead of having her be in a vegetative state for the rest of her physical life. According to some news outlets her friends and family are already arriving at the hospital to say good-bye. Tragic indeed, but for as common as ski head injuries seem to be, most ski resorts do not require and a few do not even offer helmet rentals.

The resort she was at made a point of the fact they got her to sign a waiver after the spill that she had refused to immediately seek medical attention.
Of course any lawyer would contend she wasnt in a condition to make objective decisions about her own care after hitting her head.
Wear a helmet folks.

I'll be mildly surprised if the family goes after the resort. I think famous families tend to lick their wounds in private.

Who was she??? Never heard of her before, I know who Liam is...

Guess this gives a whole new meaning to Taken...sorry couldn't resist :sick

So sorry to hear. What few movies I saw her in showed her breeding. She and her mother (Vanessa Redgrave) were to do a Broadway show together next year. Would have been magical and historic. Absolutely tragic.

DId that little girl that died after getting hit with the hocky puck last year have any pre-conditions? Seems pretty much like the same situation. She felt fine for a little while then just like that she was gone.

No pre conditions need to exist.
The brain is bruised or traumatized with no obvious immediate outward effects,
but inside the cranium swelling begins.
...and if the pressure isnt relieved or cant be, well then....

Do any of us see the immediate results of being bruised on our arms or legs?
No.
Usually it takes hours.
